Nofap and porn

24 posts in this topic

Don't get me wrong ..I myself was buying into this whole nofap thing just few months ago ..but honestly..now I understand my body and my sexuality better ..all because I started masturbating again just recently.

Here's the thing ..if you guys want to know if masturbation is beneficial or harmful for you  ..just try the following experiment:

Don't masturbate for a week and see how you feel.  If you feel good then masturbating isn't for you and you ought to be a celibate nofap monk .if you feel sexually frustrated and irritated and uncontrollably horny ..then you should start masturbating.

Then take another week and masturbate 2-3 times .and see how you feel . If you feel low energy and depleted then you shouldn't be masturbating .

So it depends on the person  . There is no black and white formula that works for everyone .

Now..let's talk about porn . Honestly..I love porn ..but I gotta saty the truth ..where porn industry is at today is really troublesome.  I have seen some fucked up scenes recently.  Porn can be extremely addictive and toxic to the mind.  And also what you see in porn has nothing to do with real sex . It's all fake . Fake boobs . Fake moans .Fake orgasms etc

Recently  ..I stopped watching porn clips ..the shit you find on Pornhub and other such sites ..and started purchasing porn "movies ". The movie lasts about 1-2 hours . It's pretty hot and not like the 99% shitty Fake porn sites .

The bottom line is..porn is mostly unhealthy for everyone unless you find quality porn. And masturbation depends on the person's genetics .

I pretty much only enjoy high quality stuff with a really nice setting, beautiful people and an artsy overall feel.

Sex and masturbation is like fireworks in the brain. I have found that I can use masturbation / sex as a very powerful motivator. So after a good day of work it can be a very strong reward and empowering. And if I am not done yet, then I have to just continue working hehe. When I feel like I have deserved it, it feels really good. It goes the other way for me too, so when I am depressed I use it as a way to make me feel better and it pulls me down further and further. It feels a little bit like playing with fire.

It can be a stress relief to wank one out at the end of a long stressful day . But like you said ..it can be a way to escape from facing negative emotions head on and tackling real life problems  . So like I said it has both pros and cons . The trick is to discover for yourself whether or not it's healthy and not addictive for you and then follow that as your compass.

P.S what's with your signature ??

Masturbation is not the same as porn. Porn will alter your state of daily consciousness by hammering the dopamine system.

if your the sexually frustrated type then you need to masturbate, then masturbate with out porn and see how you feel. It takes about a week for the dopamine system to reset.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

Masturbation is a natural and normal process that every human indulges in. However..however..a brain addicted to porn will use it as an addiction as  substance addiction.

It may seem a bit far-fetched..but ive read  studies of brain scans have shown that people watching porn experience the same effects or pleasure that alcohol gives them. It is a neural circuit that releases pleasure hormones when you sexually pleasure yourself by masturbating to porn.

I can't masturbate without watching porn .that's how I know I'm addicted to porn . But I realized also the quality of porn played a role.  If I masturbate to a short clip and just cum quickly..it feels like it's not worth the fuss . But with long porn movies I get to slowly massage my penis and that creates a satisfying experience.

The question is, are you having a Spanish tortilla before wanking? That's why you're wanking, your breath smells of onion ?

@Someone here Don’t you think that watching porn while having a girlfriend is a form of infidelity?

All Teachers and Teachings are delusion. You have all the answers within you. The first step on the journey to Enlightenment is questioning all the beliefs and teachings you have ever received. Teachers/Teachings are a distraction/maya at the highest level. There comes a point where you need to trust in your own innate knowledge and derive your own insights into the nature of reality. Teachers make a living and lifestyle of selling you water by the river. You don’t need them. All you need is an insatiable desire for truth and then seriously contemplate reality and uncover all that is false.

I feel like at the end of the day theres no real answers or right or wrong to alot of this stuff. I can tell you I pretty much masturbated and watched porn from like the time I was 13 to now (30 yo) I developed a nasty porn addiction while in my last relationship, I was dating a really attractive girl but still watched alot of porn.

I stopped watching it about a month ago for the first time in over 15 years and I actually stopped fapping all together at the same time. I didnt count the days of how long I didnt fap but Im sure it was about +25 days. I did get extremely horny at times and had to like sit and calm myself down. Being able to just stop porn completely actually made me feel really good about myself but I'm sure I could have still felt good about myself regardless if I stopped or not.

I will say I do genuinely feel like I am not as like awkward and way more confident when talking to women or people in general but that also could be because I stopped smoking weed at the same time. I doubt I'll ever watch porn again at this point, I have my own personal feelings towards it. I dont think its wrong per say but I just feel like its not for me anymore.

The fact that I was able to stop vaping, smoking weed, watching porn, and fapping all that the same time makes me feel like I have the power to do anything which maybe sounds kind of lame but I'm just being real.  I did end up fapping however and kinda have been on and off w/o porn and it does feel different, I dont feel the shame and guilt I used to feel before. It kind of feels more natural and no where near as draining. I'll most likely do another round of nofap just for the fuck of it. I would like to just stop fapping all together and only have sex but I dont really think it makes a difference either way.

Probably. I prefer masturbating to porn over having sex with my girlfriend.

I would argue for spiritual people they should not even masturbate and figure out a way to transcend it. What affects more a person is their diet and lifestyle habits than their natural inclination to being sexual. I believe almost every human being has the capability to transcend even sexual thoughts if they just live the right way.

I had stopped masturbating for a week, two weeks, even a month, but I felt so frustrated and stressed that I started once again. This cycle of relapsing kept going for over a year. If I had taken your advice here I would still be masturbating every other day because that was natural for me. Later on I changed my diet and lifestyle according to yogic and vedic teachings and I have easily held off even sexual thoughts since day one, and it'll be a month soon for me. Infact, I have not even had any wet dreams. I have stopped consuming all content with even a little sexuality in it.

With my other spiritual practices, I feel much better in my day to day life and lighter, so I don't even think I am missing out by not masturbating because my baseline occasionally becomes better than the state of orgasm (serious).

What I am trying to say is, if you are truly serious about spirituality you should seriously consider leaving sexuality behind, because it frees up a lot of time and space in your life and in your head. For example, sleep is natural and feels good and is even healthy, but if you could permanently leave it behind (with a naturally peaceful waking state) then you would take that offer. It is similar with sex and I believe most here are not that serious about spirituality to even try such a radical change for a year or two to truly see how much better it feels.

Obviously with psychedelics it doesn't matter but if you give any fucks about your baseline, properly leaving sex behind has amazing benefits. I have never truly indulged in the nofap community so I don't know what they say about this matter. I think your average person doesn't need to leave masturbation behind and what you said should apply to your average person, but not to a person who is seriously spiritual.

@Roy It's mostly because I'm so obsessed with sex in general.

I need to talk to a therapist.

Just not masturbating for a week or two isn’t enough to prove if it’s healthy or not

Well they say testosterone level hit the pinnacle every 7 days after ejaculation.  So it's enough to recover and regain your sexual appetite . Of course it depends on diet and genetics etc

No .

That short response already tells me you don’t have a good justification.

I challenge you to ask your girlfriend whether it is infidelity and let’s see what her response is.

Also, if you found out she doing getting off from other guys, how would you feel?

again.. cheating is less about the behavior and more about telling lies.. keeping secrets.. and breaking relationship trust. If one partner’s porn use is agreeable to both parties and not kept secret or covered up..it’s not cheating. Otherwise..it’s a betrayal of the relationship and counts as infidelity. And she knows that I watch porn .
