Is the concept of ’Enlightenment’ only for sad and lonely people?

Dear Forum,

1) English is not my main language ?

2) I’m serious with my question and want to discuss it thoroughly. ?

Is the idea of enlightenment only for sad and lonely people?

The majority of people I meet daily seems to always talk about materialism and what they want to do and become. People seems to talk about progression and enjoy it. This is from a western perspective. I can sometime hear people struggling, and they never have enough.

Never do I hear anyone talk about seeking another world, confront the idea of reality we live in, other than in a political perspective.

So I still wonder, Why should anyone care about ’Enlightenment’, ’Ego-stages’ or similar ideas, when people instead could get a work, be entreprenauer or help others who are not so lucky to live in, example, western sociaty?

All the best ?

Haha funny question, acording to Kant no, for him enlightenment is a necessity for everyone.

'' Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance.''

He says : Dare to know!

Of course there are many interpretations but I find Kant's most fitting.

Maybe sad and lonely people are more likely to seek it, but I don't think It's necessary. I mean, I wasn't sad or lonely, just curious.

"God is not a conclusion, it is a sudden revelation. When you see a rose it is not that you go through a logical solipsism, "This is a rose, and roses are beautiful, so this must be beautiful." The moment you see it, the head stops spinning thoughts. On the contrary, your heart starts beating faster. It is something totally different from the idea of truth." -Osho

Everyone is seeking enlightenment whether they realize it or not. It might look on the surface like they are doing the exact opposite, but every action someone takes is just an attempt at reaching oneness. Of course some of these actions are a less efficient method than others for getting there. But the ego can only mask the soul for so long.

Thanks for your post! ?

I’m very curious, How can we know this?

Does this mean that people I see every day want to reach a new state of being?

But many people I meet seems happy, or wants to be in their state of mind..?

Or, people I meet have never thought that life could have a ”higher” purpose.

How is Ego relevant to ordinary people?

The mind is creating all the supposed problems in one's life. People are trying to solve these problems to reach a point of peace where problems no longer matter. Everyone is doing this in a variety of different ways. This does not mean everyone is directly conscious of a specific state of being they want to be in, they just know where they are right now is not where they ultimately want to be. What people actually want is a complete dissolution of the ego, they just don't realize it. You can be happy or sad person and this still applies. It applies to all.

The idea of enlightenment tends to possess the people that have rejected reality and are seeking 'something' better.

The seeking makes them lonely, for nobody understands them.

The seeking makes them sad, for that which they seek can't be found.

But, there is a difference between the idea of enlightenment and 'enlightenment' itself.

Relinquishing the idea also relinquishes sadness and loneliness.

No, I don't think it's disappeared. From my experience  it's even increased, I can safely say %1 of the population seeks understanding. Compared to older generations this is very high.

What kind of problems?

Like, what I should study, where I should live, Who I want to become? ?

Sometime It looks like some people engage to much in what other do, or starting conflicts with people to show more of their own ”ego” ..?

Why you start to reject reality?

Do we need to find a new reality then?

Does this new insight(?) to look for something just arise? From what, from where…?

??

Hmm…

What is insanity? To take part of the life around, to work, having friends?

Or do you mean the mind makes problems for us?

In what shall this arise?

If we don’t buy our happiness, are we happy with our own being?

Is this planet a joy then..? Planet ?
A joy only for me?

Enlightenment is not a concept. It is actuality.

The reason why one needs to deconstruct and get rid of the ego is because the ego is responsible for creating an overlay of unnecessary projection upon reality that are caused by its perpetual underlying feeling of fear.

Where does this fear come from?

What are the mechanics behind a persons ”unnecessary projection” ? ?

Do our mind want to first become a person and later deconstruct this person?
