Getting My Covid Vaccine

532 posts in this topic

Ok so I said I would review my time working as a Covid-19 tester in the summer. I worked there fulltime for about a month, and it was at the second largest airport in Norway. We tested all the passengers that came with international flights that didn't have the "corona passport". In Norway, it requires being fully vaccinated and having taken the vaccine in either Norway or some certified country (not all countries were qualified).

It takes about 2 weeks of fulltime work before you're able to work semi-independently, and they had to hire a lot of new people in the summer, which sometimes caused the situation of there being almost nobody at work who really knew what they were doing. This was really only a problem in the beginning, but it didn't necessarily lead to much trouble back then because of the low amount of air traffic. Even so, the journal system allows for a lot of error correction and double checking, so if anything, it only means that somebody has to do a bit of extra work.

I learned that they hire mostly young people without any work experience, and some of them are very relaxed when it comes to following anti-contamination routines (removing equipment carefully, using masks at work). We had one case where an employee caught the virus at work (this was in the news), and this lead to about 10-15 employees being put in quarantine for a couple of days, and we had to borrow people from other test stations for a while. If this happened later in the summer when there was a lot of more air traffic, it would've been pretty bad. There was one time where we had 1000 people waiting in line all at once, and the maximum capacity is 7-8 testers. It was so bad that the airport CEO felt the need to deliver the information to us in person xD

I learned that the communal sector (or muncipality) is horrible at managing worktime schedules in general. On the one hand, they'll say they need more people taking extra shifts because of understaffing, but on the other hand, employees will complain about not getting enough shifts. When it comes to the Covid-19 test station in particular, there was always a mismatch between how many passengers we had to test that day and how many employees were at work (either too much or too little). This lead to people having to work overtime rather frequently and times where only half of the people had to even do anything at a given time. Other than that, it was a great work environment and I met some interesting people.

@Carl-Richard What's your point dude?

Just some insight into how we're dealing with Covid-19 on a collective level quality wise. For example, now you know that you might catch the virus from somebody who is testing you, not simply because they were unlucky, but because there is a good chance they weren't following the correct protocols, caused by a lack of work experience or simple absentmindedness (common with the large proportion of newly employed young people) or stress from being overworked due to understaffing etc.

Since when are we afraid of death?

Arent there more important things in life?

Lets say a country gets invaded in the 21st century. Why fight the invaders and lose lives if you can surrender? No one will genocide you you will just have to work harder.

This raises some big questions and conscious discussions. Especially in this forum. Why silence people?

Could there be long term implications of mandatory vax and lockdowns more severe than the virus itself?

What cost more to the economy covid deaths or government mandated lockdown?

Imagine a world where keeping everyone alive at all costs is no1 value. How many tradeoffs would we have to make?

Lets say anti vax side is evil. How conscious would we be without the flip side of the coin?

Analogy to mandatory vax. What sacrifices in terms of freedom are we willing to make to save lives? In other words why lose lives in a war for example? Just surrender. This way battles and deaths will be avoided.

Imagine thinking you need an imagined vaccine... for an imagined virus... all in a lucid dream

All is imagined. Why live in fear?

Official data shows that those who were sick with covid earlier are 6 times less likely to get sick with the delta variant than those who got phizer/moderna vaccine.

Immunity from being exposed to the virus is way better against new variants than vaccines. It also lasts longer.

@GoobyBooby

I don´t think it´s about fear for everyone. This whole narrative of "war against a virus" / "war against the evil kabal" gives people, without a lot of meaning in life, a "purpose". They feel that they are doing the "right" thing. And it´s not even hard work. You can basically sit at home, eat chips and play video games and think of yourself as hero (some of the people who believe the mainstream narrative) or label everyone as "sheep" and feel superior / smarter (some of the so called "conspiracy-theorists")

What I notices in my generation as well is blind-trust in the government, even though it wasn´t there before. I think that´s because of fear. People are more fearful that their worldview is wrong, than they have fear from covid / the vaccine / there being a secret Elite ruling everyone.

What most people don´t get is that every narrative has some truth to it. Like it´s not hard to see why some people believe in some secret group of people ruling everything. Sure it has some truth, look at stuff like the Bilderberger, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, the WEF ... They are developing narratives that they want people to believe in (like almost everyone else). But they are doing so "kinda" openly, so I wouldn´t call this a "conspiracy".

@KennethFields Welcome to the brave new world where don't really have "advancement" or "progress". If we did would we still be working with computer technology that functions like a strobe light and we stair into it? (your screen). How about the schools that give no time for processing the information you learn because you now have to learn more subject matter which you won't have time to process because you will then have more to "learn"; 13 years of being directed along and identifying as the collective and all the while the world cries about populism and yet it's the schools that were designed to promote patriotism - don't tell a progressive or conservative as they may short circuit when they realize what it is I just spelt out. And then there's medicine that fixates on symptoms all the while compromising the genius of the body/nature which an "expert" cannot possibly begin to understand when their education involves 20+ years of being directed along - what do you think that entrains/programs?
