CMV: Pete Buttigieg is the most conscious, developed and loving nominee

23 posts in this topic

In my opinion, Pete is far more conscious and loving than Bernie.

Pete truly demonstrates integration and inclusion of different world views, in the way he appeals to conservatives and moderates, all while supporting progressive policies like cannabis legalization, the green new deal, etc.

Basically just listen to the man talk - even when his campaign responded to the woman who was disappointed finding out he's gay - it was a generous, kind and loving response. IMO he's a truly stage yellow guy.

Most people in my circles (mostly all Stage Green) don't like him. They say he's getting a lot of his campaign funds from Big Money interest groups. Which means he will be beholden to them if he gets elected. Also there's talk of the corporate DNC was wanting Biden, cause he would be a easily manipulated business as usual candidate, like they were pushing Hilary over Sanders. Sanders is pretty much an Independent, and would fight against Big Money influences of government, which the DNC doesn't want. So the rumor is, that since they were backing Biden, but he's pretty unlikable and falling in the polls, now Buttigieg  is their new business as usual candidate.

I got no evidence of any of this, but that is what most people I know are saying and they follow what's going on closely.

I think Sanders is the best choice for real change to the corrupt system. We don't need more business as usual. We need someone with the balls for fighting for a major overhaul.

He is nowhere near Yellow. To me he seems one other corporate democrat who is at stage orange-green. He is now like the prince of the establishment and it want him to return to pre trump era when politicians were boring and just protecting status quo.

What America need is change and Pete isn't the best candidate to bring that.

He talks nice but he is the same neo-liberal we tend to always get.

He is basically Bill Clinton again. He is not going to fight the corporatists hard like Bernie will.

It's easy to talk of inclusion without actually fighting the powers in charge.

It's fascinating how Pete's new simple narrative is spreading through minds. This simple narrative would be considered a "meme" in SD theory. How an individual mind relates to the meme depends on one's conditioned filter and current level of consciousness.

Pete's new meme he started pushing a couple weeks ago is "Bernie wants it 'my way or the highway'. Bernie is actually exclusive. Pete is the true 'inclusive' candidate. As a moderate, Pete can bring together progressives, centrists and moderate republicans".

Various forms of this meme have arisen and dissolved over the last year. Yet recently, Pete has been pushing the meme that Bernie is exclusive and Pete is inclusive, hard. Corporate media has gladly picked up on this meme and now it is spreading through minds.

One thing to notice about Pete: he is very amorphous and likes to speak in platitudes. Things like "Now is the time to turn the page on division to a new chapter of inclusion". That type of frothy language is fine if it is backed up with actual policies that the candidate is actually fighting for. Pete goes on and on with amorphous platitudes, without stating specific policies that he will fight for. This allows corporate influences to mold him - that is why corporate is ok with him. In contrast, Bernie talks about specific policies (against corporate interests) that he will fight for.

He is freaking warlord. He served in Afghanistan and he supports war in Middle East probably more than republicans.

Don't think you know what 'Warlord' means.

Isn't this the guy who fired his black police chief after he supposedly spoke out against police brutality?

I am not Bernie or Bust and I do want more conscious leadership in the White House. However, based on his sketchy past and corporate backing, I cannot in good conscious vote for him if he is the nominee.

the fundamental question is, can he beat Trump? imagine him in a debate with Trump. given what I've seen of Buttigieg (I could be wrong) I get the sense that it is not going to end well.

I get the same sense. He can speak with frothy appeal and can skirt around criticism, yet I don't think he can handle punches very well. Like a boxer that that bobs and weaves a lot.

My sense of him change in one moment of this weeks debate during the race question to Pete. After Pete bobbed and weaved, the moderator pinned him down directly and Pete looked like a deer in headlights. And then he explained himself as targeting black communities for cannabis possession to reduce the damage of black crime. That looks really bad to a democratic audience, especially minorities. Yet more importantly, I think he buckled under pressure and that level of pressure is nothing compared to what Trump would do.

As well, Biden's recent ad against Pete was brutal and he had no defense. Trump will be 10x more brutal.

I'm sensing more and more that Bernie has the best chance. Look at the rally Bernie had last night with Cornell West and AOC. Thousands of high energy, motivated people. They are two of the most powerful surrogates in history. Bernie's got the energy and movement to bring people to the polls. No other candidate comes close. Biden's rallies look like they are in a nursing home. Pete looks sooo uptight and uncomfortable around working class people.

Pete is white Obama, with less experience.

It's time to move beyond Obama's politics. It was okay in the post-Bush era, but new ideas are needed. Obama proved that the Republicans will not be reasoned with and they will not compromise. And that problem has only gotten worse. The only solution is to shame them out of office, which Bernie can do.

I find it interesting how Obama's rhetoric was soaring and inspirational to progressives in 2008. Yet similar rhetoric by Pete is falling flat to progressives in 2020.

This is the type of thing Pete says a lot. The below phrase was a prepared remark that he said during the debate and highlighted as a meme on his twitter feed.

"I’m not interested in labels. I’m not interested in what Republicans are going to say. I’m interested in the style of politics that we need to put forward to actually, finally, turn the page - in order to win, yes, but also in order to govern."

To me, it almost seems like his campaign has an algorithm with positive keywords/phrases like: unity, turn the page, meeting this moment, think bigger, this defining moment, galvanize, bold ideas and negative keywords/phrases like: division, looking back, polarize etc.

A lot of Pete's rhetoric seems similar to Obama, yet the feeling and impact is sooo different. It's also recontextualized how I view Obama. With prominent speakers like Cornell West, AOC and Bernie being the energy of inspiration, Obama now seems so out-dated.

In addition to the traditional left vs. right axis, there seems to be a very strong old vs. new axis that is particularly strong this election cycle.

Well, if you aren't going to seriously challenge the establishment, what else can you say but platitudes?

Talk is cheap. Which is why Bernie's 40-year proven track record of fighting for what is right really matters. It is an honest signal in a sea of dishonest signals.

I think the foundation of Pete's campaign is based on the Obama campaign.  However, the problem Pete is having is, his campaign comes with baggage where Obama would sit out on votes which may give him controversy during his future presidential run.  IMO Pete is not at a level of consciousness to effectively govern a State, let alone all of them.  Although the United States is shifting toward a higher consciousness, the Country is not ready for Bernie or AOC at this time.  The Consciousness of the United States has become stagnant by situations I will not address on this topic.

I think it depends on if the counter-narrative is effective. The main counter-narrative of Republicans is to portray Bernie as a radical socialist/communist that will take down the U.S. like Venezuela or the Soviet Union. A lot of people will believe in this narrative of authoritarian socialism and get scared of Bernie. In particular, a considerable portion of people over 45 y.o. Far fewer young people will fall for it.  . . The corporate media also has a vested interest in painting Bernie as "too extreme" because he will cut into their corporate profits.

Imo, Bernie's best chance is to connect with the pain and struggles of working class people. Rather than dividing people among racial, sexual orientation and religious lines - Bernie needs to create the division between the working class and the top 1% /  billionaires. I think Bernie has a very good chance of doing this, in spite of Trump's treasure chest and anti-Bernie corporate media. Because, Bernie is 100% authentic. He has been fighting his whole life for the working class and this is his orientation and passion. It will be very hard to portray Bernie as another corrupt politician in the back pockets of wealthy donors and corporations. It would be like trying to portray Bernie as a female. It's obviously not true. . . If Bernie's democratic socialist message (a capitalist / socialist hybrid like Denmark) in which power is returned to the people - it will strongly resonate with over 60% of the population and be very difficult to defeat - even with massive amounts of money and ads.

I thought Bernie's latest rally last night was his best. It was his first rally in which he took the identity of the candidate that will take on Trump. I think he did a very good job at conveying his understanding of the struggles that the working class undergoes - since he has spent his entire life in this space. Bernie and AOC are much better at this than any previous candidate I've seen - including Bill Clinton (I feel your pain) and Obama.

I wouldn't be surprised if 20% of Trump supporters vote for Bernie. It's so obvious that Bernie is fighting for the working class and Trump is not - the contrast is dramatic and I think even 20% of Trump voters will realize this.

And AOC will be a powerful surrogate. Imo, she is the highest level public speaker of our time - a once in a generation talent. It's amazing how high she has evolved in one year. I put her on a higher level than Obama, due to her underlying substance and willingness to fight. In terms of connecting with an audience with substance, she is up there with RFK in my book. I put her higher than Bernie in this area.

General election rallies with Cornell West, AOC, Bernie and musical bands will draw enormous crowds.

Shame them?

Even from my radical perspective, I would never advocate shaming someone. Why do you mean by this? Isn't this low conscious behavior?

A higher consciousness approach does not work on very low consciousness people.

For example, you cannot play nice with a rabid dog. The dog needs to be restrained physically and kept at a safe distance.

Likewise you cannot reason with someone like Hitler, you can only execute him.

Likewise you cannot reason with today's Trumpist Republicans, you can only show the public how shameless they are and kick them out of office for a better set of people.

Once a human starts to act like a monster, the best way to solve that problem is by showing the entire town his monstrous behavior. So they can know the truth and stop supporting him. So when Republicans cut healthcare, show that. When they act like bigots, show that. Show it all so the people can see how ugly it is.

You're right. My concern over Bernie is that he doesn't attack the necessary points that need to be attacked. He's running against those who are entirely fund by cooperate contributions, but doesn't point that out.

IDK... do you think Bernie is a fighter?

He needs to be more like Jimmy Dore

Wow, that video was brutal.

Good points you make. Hadn't thought of it that way. But unfortunately, in that perspective, I don't think Any of the candidates would be that much of a fighter to go toe to toe with trump? Trump is a fighter that plays by no rules. He will put brass knuckles, razor-blades and broken glass in his gloves. And every Democratic candidates wants to come at this from following the rules. Not saying they should fight dirty, but you have to be ready for a fight to the death. I love Sanders, but is he ready for that kind of fight? Is any of them?

Exposing the Republicans lies does Not work. They just say You are lying and create a false narrative that half the people believe. This has been what trump and his administration has been doing since day one.

Can't win this by playing it nice and safe.
