Health hacks

Hey guys,

I'm curious what health hacks or unconvential methods are you aware of? ( such as coldshowers, NoFap, intermittent fasting or superbeneficial foods etc.)

All of that is mostly bullshit unless you have a highly specified issue that can be resolved by one of these methods.

For example, my friend is overweight and recently he started fasting. It's working very well for him, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone of average weight.

I've tried almost every superfood on the shelf and most of it is a scam. Maca, Fish oil, and Reishi mushroom used to be my go-to, but I've gone off of them and actually I'm feeling better. So really, wasted money. Come to this conclusion yourself, however. I suspect this is a highly subjective matter.

Currently the only "superfood" I use is cacao powder for my smoothies, but I actually do that for the delicious chocolate taste :P

I also take daily cold showers but I wouldn't consider it a "health hack." Same thing with nofap. I do these things to avoid the alternatives, which is spending 30 minutes under a hot water and daydreaming/wanking off to porn. So it's not that cold showers and nofap give me any "positive" result, but rather I'm just choosing not to partake in the very clear "negative" effects of warm showers and porn.

I know I didn't really answer your question, but hopefully I've provided a different perspective. Don't look for "health hacks," just look for consistent, sustainable results. Eat well, exercise, socialize, study yourself. Always find ways to grow. Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals!

If anything, DOUBLE DOWN on your fundamentals. Now, if you want to ask me what I think are critical health fundamentals, I would gladly talk :D

@Toan I do cold showers (coldest degree) daily, I've never been ill since I started and last winter was the first winter without a running nose. So I believe they do indeed boost the immune system

nofap has benefits, they are limited though. semen preservation has the Potential to really boost you. after two weeks I usually need almost 2 hours less sleep and am more motivated etc... But you might get to struggle with wet dreams( somewhere else I wrote how to prevent them)...

I haven't experimented with intermittent fasting. If you are (slightly) overweight, you could give it a try and see what results you get. You may try intermittent dry fasting, that is without water, it is said to be way more effective. If you want to fast for a few days to cleanse your body, one day dry fasting is said to have the same effects as 3 days with water. Be careful though  and do a thorough research. If you wanna do the daily intermittent dry fasting, then make sure you get enough water within the window you are allowed to eat and drink

definitely recommend studying variations of breathwork, which Leo touches on in "shamanic breathwork" as one form. Also peptides, nootropic and otherwise are worth brushing up on. I respectfully disagree about the omega 3's (in quality form), as I do on the benefits of cold showers (see Wim Hof), but agree that there are no cheat codes and focusing on fundamentals, diet, routine, consistency. Speaking for myself, if I break my discipline just a little... adopt a "just this once" attitude it becomes a slippery slope and one bad choice cascades to many. Routine and consistency are everything.

I suspect that's a response to me?

I think it's worth mentioning that I love eating salmon and chia seeds, both high in omega 3's. So supplements are redundant (if not detrimental) for me, since I seek a good balance of nutrients through REAL food :)

That's really what I mean by "fundamentals." If you put the right things in your body to begin with, you really have no business with supplements.

There are exceptions, of course, such as specific (prescribed) deficiencies you must address, or otherwise if you have a low budget and are settling for sub-optimal food.

Even then, in the former scenario you would still ideally fix your deficiencies through real food, and in the latter scenario your real concern should be making more money so that you can afford real food. Save those 50 bucks to eventually start your business instead of buying omega 3 pills.

Of course, that's just my perspective :P

@Toan Explore the benefits of a dry sauna. I have been doing it for years and it's amazing.

Yep, I addressed this in a second post :)

Bottom line is study nutrition and eat real food!

he says that it is a common misconzeption that rest equals sleep. so therefore he says its even possible to just sleep 2h a day ( not talking about polyphastic sleepin). what he says to have done for many years

Its not a hack but, you have to sleep at least 7 hours per day. I´ve been in sleep deprivation lately and it feels pretty bad.

Your levels of concentration drops dramatically and control the bad mood is quite difficult.
