Is lust fear based emotion?

@Marinador There are no fear based emotions, your fear of them make them fear based :)

@Marinador i assume lust is egoistical and needy. But love is selfless and sharing.

Yes.

But why does it matter? Every emotion is fear-based.

And fear itself is coming from Love, and Love is an absolute, so...

Lust vs (sexual) passion

Are they the same?

Krishnamurti: "Lust is sustained by thought, driven by thought, it grows and gathers substance in thought until it explodes -sexually or if it is the lust for power, in its own violent forms of fulfillment. Passion is something entirely different; it is not the product of thought nor the remembrance of a past event; it is not driven by any motive of fulfillment; it is not sorrow either."

fear comes from thought (desires and conflict), and it creates pain/suffering

Why does fear exist? And what is its purpose?

What is it protecting?

What is protection?

Why does fear exist? Uncertainty or the unknown

What is its purpose? security

What is it protecting? us physically and emotionally

What is protection? comfort, maybe a false sense of security

fear = thought = time = energy,

@DrewNows

There's still a deeper level that we could see.

Fear exists to serve its purpose.

The purpose of fear is security or protection.

If protection isn't love, then I don't know what is.

The "us" that fear is protecting is the light that is inside of us.

Why don't we say instead that the sense of danger is the false one? Right now, are you safe or in danger?

That's how it must work in order to protect you.

@Truth AddictI would say there is healthy and unhealthy fear. Point a gun at me and fear is quite healthy, but fear of failure or the uncertainty of tomorrow is not, this is conflict

what does protection look like psychologically?

Right, but in both cases fear comes from Love. Right?

Fear is healthy, conflict isn't.

Fear comes from Truth, conflict comes from delusion.

Although in the end, even delusion comes from Love, exceeding love for something imaginary.

Emotions can not be put in such small concepts as Love,Fear,Lust etc, they are just words and range of emotions is infinitely larger all this does is create confusion which we see all the time in this forum.

Are you inferring Love is the answer? Or that we need have fear, anxiety, worry etc? What is Love? Do you mean it to be emotion?

using thought/fear for survival is healthy

We are discussing "us" as in the mind and the nature of thought to see if it is possible to live without psychological fear.

exploring the mechanics of the mind using the nature of thought is a feasible way to learn about oneself (thought-self)

In the Enneagram "lust" is shown to be based on anger. Although there are people whose character runs on fear that are "lustful" of course.

@DrewNows

Love is not an emotion, it can materialise as an emotion, that emotion can take different forms, fear, anxiety, lust, hatred, love, anger, depression, etc... But it is an absolute quality of reality.

Conflict comes from resistance, fear doesn't.

So, to end psychological fear is to stop resisting completely (including the thoughts).

Still, it takes time to get rid of the old patterns.

@Truth Addict that makes sense, the universal love.

Fear only arises in relationship with thought.

thought or division is conflict

fear = thought = conflict

Yes fear can be very tricky. It takes no psychological time. There can be no defense against fear, only with observation and understanding of it as a whole can there be the ending.
