[Theory] What causes sex addiction

27 posts in this topic

I think most males are addicted to sex these days because sex is harder to get than it used to be. It's more scarce so it seems more valuable. In the past you could easily get a wife and get as much sex as you want. And now you're not just competing with the men in your village but also with perfect men that women see on their screens. What are your thoughts on this topic?

I can think of arguments for both sides, but I statistically I suppose you’re right at least among youngsters. I suppose high school kids have other things to do. I know I certainly didn’t try much at that age.

Although you don’t get addicted to something you’ve never tried or didn’t  have a abundance of, like alcohol or something. You can just idealise it and value it highly.

With sex it's different because you can simulate it with porn and masturbation. Your brain thinks you're doing the real thing.

There's both the psychological component of scarcity which you can see value from scarcity all over the economy causing a sense of need and the more raw chemical component of a dopamine rush which also is used as compensation for say being bored and what not.

This is such a silly question.

Go interview women on the ideals of  sex addiction and youll have a much more balanced argument and youll realise your question stems from pure insecurity.

You havent gotten laid in months if not years.

Someone who had sexual satisfaction wont bother with a question.

My advise would be go have sex.

Op could you explain the context of your topic? Unless you are really hot or have lots of money or a nympho girlfriend you cant have an extense sexual practise daily. Dont you mean porn addiction?

I'm talking about sex addiction in males.

You're saying that sexually active people can't be curious?

I don't think that matters much because a weak person can give birth to a strong person and vice versa.

I would consider porn addiction sex addiction because your brain thinks it's doing the real thing. And you have real orgasms. It doesn't matter if the orgasm happens in a fleshy tunnel or in your hand.

With strong and weak I meant power over people. The influence.

Define sex addiction.

Define addiction.

There is no such thing as generalised sex addiction. There is only such thing as YOUR PERSONAL issues with sex or no sex or the inability to say no to a partner or yourself.

Sex is easier than ever to get and neither a commodity or something for what you have to give up anything.

Maybe it's similar to drug addiction? The mechanism is the same, but instead of inserting chemicals in blood from outside, you produce it within your brain by physical and visual stumulation. What makes it worse is that the nature itself drives you to do it. And many lose control over their desires and let them rule their lives. A vicious circle.

@Voladores It's a bold claim but I would say that if you had five girlfriends you would lose interest in sex pretty quickly. Because you know that you can have it whenever you want. It's no longer valuable. It's like going to the bathroom.

@Eric Tarpall Then why it isn't so when it comes to porn and masturbation? It feels like never enough and hard to unhook yourself from it.

Sex is not an object that becomes more valuable the scarcer it is.

So people with OCD may be prone to develop every kind of addiction, from food, sex, porn, videogames...

Im not a hard case, but lightly obsessive, and I've seen myself in these patterns. There is an underlying psychological cause and this addictive behaviors are just a  coping mechanism to compensate the main issue.

Why not? I think it is.

It is beneficial for the feminine to have you think that sex is a commodity. Turn the tables so that you are the one gracing her patch of grass with your combine harvester. It's not her allowing you to do so after meeting her list of demands.

Neurochemically speaking sex is interesting. It is a cocktail of many chemicals. Comparing it to drugs, is like comparing a three course meal to a candy-bar. Sure there are some addictive chemicals, e.g. but sex is not about that, it is much more. Most people don't go deeper than skin deep or don't even get to the skin part lol.

Lack of Spinal cord and Muladhara. People focused too much on the right side and muscles mainly.

@JohnnyBravo though I agree with you on your overall point, I’ve been with 2 girls who were nymphmaniacs and man it’s freaky. It really is. It’s like... they’re always on to the point where it’s such a turn off. I got to the point where I said in my usual upfront fashion, “what’s really going on?”  ... and I’m a guy lol. It’s ususllt something to do with an issue with her father and or dep insecurity or running away from something in one fashion or another.

Other than that... @Eric Tarpall go have sex. Stop talking about it and stop being a victim.
