Can confirm. Today is day 7, and earlier today i had a very hard time not relapsing. I was feeling ecstatic and super horny. At the moment i'm feeling kind of mellow and frustrated. Shit is weird Af.

@Shin Alright then, let's see if these benefits are really true. I'll start a 30 day challenge from today on wards, anyone can join with me. Update coming in one month (weekly updates in my journal for those interested).

I imagine that once I find my Life Purpose I probably won't have an issue with masturbation or any other addiction because my whole being will be focused towards one cause; but I must work with what I have in this moment!

This would be my second biggest addiction. My biggest addiction is YouTube, and again I'm going cold turkey on that for a month. It's just so funny how all of these addictions cause us so much pain, when they were built to avoid pain in the first place. YouTube is hard however because there is good resources on it, but I just keep reminding myself that I have 50 self-help books to read and a course to finish (all of which are life changing; content that is just not found on YouTube), and that the reason I am doing this is to live a passionate life. anything less would be a disservice to the miracle of me being conscious.

Much Love.

@Jayden Birch
It is some really hard stuff, if you do it for 30 days at your first attempt hats off to you.
At times it feels easy of course but don't get cocky over that fact, because it can change momentairly, you are in for some traps layed down for you by your own brain chemistry.

What's the best approach from your personal experience. To abstain from fapping for 30 days straight or gradually first 2-3 days then a week then 2 weeks and then maybe 30 days? . . ..

No, always plan to stop completely when it comes to an addiction.

@Shin i dont know if once or twice a week is considered addiction and i dont think in the future i will abstain from sex or masturbation in a moderate way but i surely wanna try the 30 days challenge to see if there's any benefit for me personally. Ok let's try the straight method then.

Well, im far from where i wanna go ultimately but dont think that fap or nofap will make a bigger difference, personally where i struggle the most is my addiction with videogames and since i read this post i got curious so i wanted to try it and maybe keep it up for more if these "superpowers" manifest on me. I really dont wanna bring you guys down if you have an addiction surely you must work for it, for me, i got the videogames one, still since i saw this i thought to give it a try is that simple. . .

@blazed i can work on that especially now that i have it in my new years resolution list. I'm planning on selling my nintendo switch and ps4. The problem is that where i live is not much to do, only clubbing or videogames. I dont draw pleasure in clubbing anymore since 25 and these 3 years i focused on my studies gym and . . . .videogames. . . But because of that i lost my girl and since when i got my diploma (june 2017) i only played 8hours a day, maybe because i didnt want to face my emotions or maybe because i got addicted (i think they're both). . . Some singleplayer and some mobas with my friends online. My vision is degrading and im thinking of having a lasik surgery and resetting my life. Ill even try a 30 days no fap challenge im very curious about the results . . . If strong change is required strong emotional labour must be applied . . . . Sorry @shin for posting this on a nofap thread. . . .maybe we should start a noVideogames one and see how it goes :P

@Psyche_92 No, I'm just saying that having lower standards can be a result of NoFap. I want that sweet energy!

@blazed I did not  necessarily mean it to be a good thing. It's just an observation.

Does anyone have any tips for how to fall a sleep easier on noFap, that tends to be my main issue.

@Leo-Tzu
The thing is, after stopping masturbation many people report that they also lost other addictions automatically during that process. It is because you find your balance again and don't require artificial stimulants anymore to find pleasure, you get the pleasure already from doing everyday things. So with alot of masturbation your receptors are so overflowed that the only thing that can still give you pleasure would be highly rewarding things like video games are oftentimes, they are exactly build around that concept.

@LaucherJunge I noticed after i started nofap that; i'm more aware of those very subtle addictions i have. Addictions that i haven't even noticed to be addictions before. When one source of instant dopamine is removed, you start to seek another way to fill that need. This can be through many different habits that make you feel good, for myself they are: Online shopping, beer, food, sex, actualized.org etc.

I now understand why nofap is so effective: it completely drains your energy, not only mentally but physically aswell. It makes you passive. When you don't fap you have tons of energy and YOU can be aware of how you want to spend your time. Do you want to keep on the road of instant dopamine rush, or do you actually want to do things that make you really feel good deep inside?

Those things that give you that really good feeling usually require some sort of effort to start them but they will be enjoyable as you get started and especially afterwards. For me these activities are: Meditation, Jogging and Reading.

I know a few things for good quality sleep:

  • total darkness, if you can apply it for your room. All mini LED lights should be turned off
  • total silence, also if it's applicable
  • shower before bed, preferably cold one
  • its good to have a plant in the room

Lately I have been using sleep hypnosis/meditation videos while I go to sleep. Just start some video on YouTube then go to bed. Follow the instructions and you will fall asleep after 5 minutes.

I’m really interested to know how you  (@Shin) have personally sustained NoFap in the long term. This is because I see people on YouTube who have gone for years without masturbating, which has conflicted with Buddhist monks molesting children due to the power of the sexual urge. What are your thoughts on this?

Those Buddhist monks can't have sex with girls, and they have no purpose in life to channel their energy.
