I finally understand what religion is!

It took me a God realization to understand what religion is. Basically religion is an entirely fictional world created for the sake of people's survival. 
Just like in any fictional world, for example lord of the rings, there's an internal logic and consistency. 
Religion is created in the same way the lord of the rings is created, through imagination. Literally! However in religion's case it isn't merely taken as imaginary, it's taken as a shared reality by the members of the cult. 
The mind's capacity to construct reality is very powerful! I want you to appreciate that. From when we were young, with toys, we used to construct fictional worlds, to constructing fictional worlds in art, and also constructing a reality with religion. 
Ta daaaaaa! That's what it means to be God: to see through all the bullshit of human constructions of fictional worlds to suit their survival, to reach the truth of the matter.

It's good that you realize this.   Yet interestingly enough there are some good things you can pluck from religion.   Some wisdom within the Bible.  But you have to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff.

The ego is more intelligent than religion.

Religious people are bunch of egos underestimating the power of their own need to survive. They don't understand that their ego is also a construction of a deeper kind.

Whatever one does religiously is one's religion. That is what religiously means. 

Do you go to the gym? Do you eat dinner at night? Do you meditate? That's what is serious and non-negotiable to you. That's your religion. You likely will keep at it like all good religious boys and girls do.

In short, one's regimen is one's religion. And conversely if you look deeper.

Religion is a narrative of an artistic nature enunciated throughout generations. The way to choose a religin isn't by the fact of it being true, since all religions are invented stories and artistic narratives, but by the quality of the invention being narrated. 
That's what faith is! You have faith in the beauty and quality of the story being narrated that is the religion.

 I meant to interpret the word "faith" the way religious people use it, in a higher way. I get your point though, but for most people truth isn't their priority, they need some sort of structure or system that grounds their lives and from which they can reap benefits like having a community, etc... 

You're not going to change the level of maturity, development, and wisdom of most people. So, i was sort of speaking to them.
