Jiang NarrativePorn - Collapse

10 posts in this topic

It’s a rare time when I’ll contemplate a podcast beyond spirituality.

So, beyond Jiang’s projections, what are your views on most of those topics?

Collapse or no collapse?

I asked AI to resume the 10 main points from the transcript.

Quote

Petrodollar system — US dominance since 1971 rests on oil being traded in dollars, China selling manufactured goods in dollars, and foreign savings flowing into US Treasury debt.

Globalisation = technology — his central formula: technological progress needs extreme national specialisation plus free global trade; he uses semiconductors as the example.

“Collapse of civilisation” / Bronze Age analogy — he argues today’s integrated world resembles the Late Bronze Age system: interconnected, unequal, indebted, then vulnerable to cascading breakdown.

Iran war, Houthis, Hezbollah, Iraqi militias — he says Iran’s proxy network is more resilient than previous Middle Eastern insurgencies and makes escalation structurally likely.

Hormuz, Bab el-Mandeb and oil chokepoints — disruption to sea routes stops energy flows to Asian industrial economies and therefore destabilises the wider dollar/trade system.

Food, fertiliser, water scarcity and migration — his chain is: supply disruption → food crisis in poorer regions → mass migration → political pressure and instability in Europe.

US imperial logic / escalation — he claims US leaders cannot easily back down because military credibility underpins the financial order; he even speculates about attacks on Iranian power and desalination infrastructure. He later connects this to the Clean Break / Israel-regional-hegemony thesis.

Trump third term and a “siege of New York” — his first spectacle-prediction: Trump remains in power after 2028, major cities resist, and New York could be cut off in an internal US conflict.

A new “9/11” targeting bank accounts — his second prediction: a cyberattack or sabotage of US financial infrastructure creates mass panic by making payments, banks, and account balances temporarily inaccessible.

Future war theatres outside Iran — China–Japan/Taiwan/North Korea tensions in Asia, then Russia–Ukraine–Baltics/NATO and possible European mass mobilisation. His recurring model is that every region becomes a connected pressure point.

The more I hear Jaing, the more of an oddball he seems. Be careful with him.

It affects collective belief in any case, “true or not.”

It’s important to see what people’s brains are being cooked by; he is, in some forms, a new replacement for Jordan Peterson in the “intellectual influencer sphere.”

Yes, that's fine.

This is a good point.

There is always some new oddball public intellectual going viral.

I've been hearing about these same predictions for the last 15 years, I think. World war 3. Petrodollar system crash. World economy collapse. The end of times. It's always nearing. Always in the next few months. Alongside the Chinese taking over everything.

It's often a mix of conspiracy theories, religious beliefs (typically Christian), and a strange compassion for the underdog.

I just don't take anyone's predictions of the future seriously. They are just speculating based on their biases.

Jiang still has good arguments about certain stuff. He is obviously doing good creative work, but it should be taken as such. His conclusions, though, engage only himself.

I do remember that you made a good prediction in the past when you said Trump wouldn’t let go of the White House easily, but I’d say it turned out to be about 60% true. He still somehow managed to hand it over to Biden.

Rule of thumb is that if an influencer become popular the sheep made them popular so their predictions are low quality to begin with

That's now always how it works.

You gotta be careful with Jiang, he is not qualified and makes bad points to get views. I relied on him too until I used AI to fact check what he was saying and he uses the Pareto principle very well to research 20% to come up with something that sounds 80% credible but is 70% full of shit.

I used to like his videos too because he links multiple topics together in interesting ways but if you watch them without double checking every point he makes you will be caught by misinformation if not probably intentional disinformation.

There are more accurate videos that you can watch on the key points that he brings up. I have to admit they are way more boring though and you have to go deeper in your research but at least you're not mislead.
