The colonial powers ripped themselves apart in world war 1 (and then later WW2) over seemingly no reason (I.e arms race and Franz Ferdinand killed). Shouldn't The West be used to senseless wars?

Because it happened to the US, it was a large amount of civilians in a singular event.

As per some scholars, the date September 11, 2001,  was chosen by Islamic terrorists because of the european victory over the Turks on September 11,1683 in the battle of Vienna, which broke Turkish power permanently.

  After this battle, the Turks would gain no further ground in Europe and would never again challenge Vienna though they engaged in the Greek, Assyrian and Armenian genocides later on. The grooming gang scandal in the UK is  an another recent manifestation of religious prejudice and hatred of some demented Islamists. 

A core belief in traditional and political Islam is that God's law (Sharia) is best for global society, and most Islamists want governments to use Sharia instead of Western legal systems.

Taliban and the later ISIS were considered to be the epitome of an ideal society, and the Islamists felt that it was their holy mission and act of compassion to deliver Sharia governance to other countries as well even if it includes extreme violence.

Public opinion polls however show that most everyday Muslims want democracy and fair legal systems, viewing their faith as a personal and moral guide rather than a tool for global conquest. They are fed up of fatwas, beheadings and amputations , lack of music and entertainment considered as Haram by the authorities. The women detest polygamy and talaq (instant divorce), burqas and other sharia rules but have to comply submissively fearing brutal punishment, and even endorse the same due to stockholm syndrome.

Even liberal Islamic sects like sufism and Ahmediyas emphasizing music and scholarship respectively have been subject to persecution by the Islamists for having differences with mainstream Islamic doctrine.

Some Islamic leaders  have also endorsed use of wmd against western targets . Vigilance and pragmatism is key to preventing such weaponry ending up in the hands of terrorists.

True, this is unprecedented in a way. I guess the continental US is supposed to be an untouched area.

I can't bring myself to watch him since hearing about his Epstein connections
