He doesn't make a definitive judgement as he was not her doctor but he finds it plausible that her psychosis and loss of volition were real.

It's not a high bar to not kill someone. It's really like you care more about the murderer than the victims. 21 years is nothing compared a life. 

It's a liberal dogma to think that death penalty is inherently wrong. There's no real reason why it can't be worked with.

Is this a feeling that you have or have you studied the effects that capital punishment has on society?

I'm mainly worried about societal progress, I empathize with the victim more than the murderer but I don't believe in blind punishment. Also I've had a pretty traumatic psychotic episode myself so I know the bad effects that this can have on someone.
