Taking testosterone/estrogen

10 posts in this topic

I was reading this book called testo junkie from the trans revolutionary and philosopher Paul Preciado, and in it he details his experiment with taking testosterone and the effects it had on his psychology and physiology. On actualized.org Leo stresses the importance of different perspectives, therefore I was thinking of taking estrogen for a short period of time to experience what it's like to be a woman. What do y'all think?

I take both. I am definitely  more stable than how I was as a cis man, even compared to just a year ago.

But I’ve had experiences of exploring being a girl ever since I was 5, but it was suppressed and severely punished by family upbringing, culture, religion, etc. I’ve only started medically transitioning a couple years ago. This is not a short-term thing for me.

But that’s my own experience. I can’t speak about yours.

@Majed You will know when the time comes. I wish I could be of more service to you, but the truth is that this issue is extremely complex and something I am still exploring. People who have black and white answers about it are kidding themselves.

I bought testosterone at 17 or 18 to go through half of male puberty because of a genetic disorder . Three years later I largely threw it in the trash and fully medically transitioned to estrogen. I took it for 10 years since then.

You'd have to take either hormone for a while for it to fully manifest, in which case the differences are astounding. By that point you start paying the price in terms of your family and society saying you're an idiot and all that . The beauty in estrogen is unmatched and you may be able to notice immediately. If not there are a million other considerations to make to improve your life. Gender transition is indeed very complex and entangled in trouble and good vibes.

But on the other hand I think I am also trying to simply sound profound, taking testosterone vs. estrogen is similar in some ways. It can be more philosophically illuminating to try to focus on the similarities. Unity and all that.

It is a great way to ruin your life for a long time, if not pernamently. Seems like nobody on this forum gives enough shits or takes you seriously enough to say this, so I gotta be the one to say the obvious LOL kinda wild tbh, if you ask me. That it needs to be said, and that nobody besides me said it lol

Is this just some idea you want to explore?

Taking exogenous hormones is serious, serious shit. Irreversible changes. It effects the entire body as a system.

This isn't something to be considered lightly like a contemplative question.

Taking estrogen isn't going to give you the experience of being a women.

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

Exactly. No better answer can be given.

@Majed You stated earlier on this forum that you have BPD. I'm assuming you were in a manic phase when you posted this. People do crazy impulsive shit in the maniac phase. Try to be aware of it before you actually act on it.

If you are a normal healthy straight male then don’t take estrogen .

“God is the Alpha Omega .. the beginning-less  beginning and the endless end .
He is the first without start . He is the last without end . He is the manifest actuality ..nothing covers him . He is the most hidden essence  ..nothing can grasp him .. nothing below him or more subtle than him .The ego is the belief I’m separate from god . Because being god is too good to be true .No matter how dark it gets or difficult it gets ..no matter how long it is going to take .. my destiny is the infinite happiness and infinite joy and love as the best thing ever ..God .  “

-that’s a me .

It’ll make you more emotional but it won’t turn you into a woman you still have.

Furthermore estrogen is not merely a female hormone; it is a metabolite of testosterone that is crucial for bone density, water retention, liver, brain, and by extension for energy levels and mood in males.

Women are estrogen-dominant only around the time of ovulation.
