How proud are you feeling right now, Actualizing Americans?

If the pollster thinks the margin of error on this question is 3%, you can’t trust them. The “social desirability bias” on this question, ESPECIALLY on the 250th anniversary, would be through the ruff.

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

I don't see a reason to be proud of the place I just so happened to be born in. Besides, if you ought to be proud of what your country has done well in, should you also not be ashamed of what your country has not done well in?

Severely low. It feels like we're still in Infinity War & there is no Endgame in sight. Or at least in other terms, Wolfenstein in real life

Still love living here. No other country I'd rather be.

But yeah, we have some serious issues to work on.

I will not break, 'cause I've been riding the curves of these infinity words and so I'll be on my way. I will not stay.

“ Of course, it has to be understood that you will hate them. If you love your religion, you will hate other religions; if you love your country, you will hate other countries; if you love your color, you will hate people who are of a different color. If you really want to love human beings you have to stop loving the country, you have to stop loving the religion. you have to stop loving your color. If you really want to love human beings you have to stop all political nonsense. “

I don't see any reason to be proud of being an American at all. Can you please give any reason at all why we should proud of being American? What culture do we have that is worth protecting? What future does this country have that is worth fighting for? What is my role in improving the state of American affairs?

My best guess is that I am meant to be proud of my history such as the victory in WWII which is a huge propaganda point for America. I had ancestors who fought in WWII and in Vietnam. One of them was on a ship that got hit by the Japanese over shark infested waters and he was one of the survivors. Personally, I think that is a cool story in my family history. It is the closest thing I have to being proud of being an American. The problem is that I don't see why the wars America fights in today are for a good cause. At least in WWII America stopped the Nazis and the Japanese who were brutal. Today America is disastrous with our forever wars and there doesn't seem to be anything to be proud of in the Middle East after what happened in Iraq in 2003.

That said, presently there is no reason to proud of America. Historically, the best case to be proud might be victory over the Nazis and Japanese in WWII or maybe victory over the British in the American Revolution. There are a couple of things to be proud of throughout American history that are pretty cool, but definitely not in the present.

That's a good question. At the very least consider them both holistically.

I can acknowledge what this country and the chain of causation that led to right now has provided and also acknowledge that we could get more creative and cohesive.

I'm proud of the American contribution to WW2 in europe, my great grandfather survived France but he was blown up and had a steal plate in his head, my other grandfather fought in Japan, personally I don't think the u.s. should have been in Hawaii to be attacked though. I'm proud of the civil war, and also the humanitarian aid the u.s. has done. I'm proud of the cold war, and support for Ukraine. I don't believe the revolutionary war did much, and I think it was as much France vs Brittain than anything. I'm proud of Obama being elected, and Trump being voted out, I'm proud of our democracy and civil rights.

The American experiment is arguably one of the greatest achievements of mankind.

Yes and the post is asking where on that scale of of pride vs shame people are.

Btw one can be proud of one's own country or another's country too.

I am well aware. I was just offering my own opinion on the subject.

Better question would be: How embarrassed are you to be an American?

The only valid answer is a Picard facepalm xD

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

I grew up in America, but left to work remote about 10 years ago and only visited for short periods of time, most of my friends are international. Honestly, I don't really even identify with being American much anymore, and i find it to be quite a cringe culture. When i watch the American news updates (which is very rare) it just makes me so grateful that i don't live there anymore. I have no plans to ever go back, i find that i fit in much better with different cultures and mindsets. Wish America all the best, but yeah no way i'm going back there, it took so much work to break out of that mindset and conditioning.
