Getting your rights taken away from you by authorities is one thing. Voluntarily giving them away because of something like this.... is a psychological phenomenon that needs to be studied.

How do you think someone could be so manipulated into thinking that it is worthy to give up your right to vote in a democracy?

It demonstrates the desperation of the cultural right. Even if you believe this there is no path for it to happen so saying it is just alienating potential allies.

It is setting in for them that the various lobbies took over any influence and power the right wing had and used them for their own ends, meanwhile the left had near total cultural victory in this gap. 

Now it’s too late, all they can do is project their anger at groups they feel symbolize their loss of influence. Such as immigrants, young women, sexual minorities.

Just for a different perspective than what's politically correct in liberal circles but cheering for women's advancement is cheering for an sub replacement fertility rate.  Who cares if women can finally be doctors and politicians when there aren't any people left to govern or heal?
