Most people shouldn't own dogs

7 posts in this topic

I only ever met a couple of people I would consider fit to own a dog out of the myriad of dog owners I've met. Most people don't have the time, resources or discipline to properly tend to a dog. I know people who got breeds simply because they look cool but don't fit their lifestyle at all. I know a chronically ill person who owned a sleigh dog. Obviously they couldn't keep up and it ended up so stressed and bored that it started eating glass. But then they had a huge ego over giving it up to a certain someone who was capable of giving that dog a decent life.

The rise of dogs getting medicated is a sign that too many people own dogs that they can't properly take care of. The high demand on dogs incentivizes irresponsible breeding, which leads to bad genes and anti-social dog behavior. Way more shelter dogs should be euthanized, which is clearly an unpopular thing to say, but would realistically be the most responsible thing to do. There are way too many dogs in circulation.

And people are way too fucking obsessed with dogs, to a point of mania. I've had people let their dogs into my home uninvited, then act shocked when I get mad. I've seen people walk their giant illegal looking pitbull monster through a park full of kids with no leash acting like it's normal. The shitstorm people throw over "dog abuse", like that Hasan situation. Shit's childish and irresponsible. It's like dogs have become the personification of Neverland. Dogs being compared to children is manic af too. It's just a fucking dog, my god.

Completely tired of my neighbors dogs always barking. At the very least, dogs do not belong in big urban cities like where I live. Their welfare needs... space, movement, and low stress... do not match cramped apartments and constant noise. This mismatch often leads to barking, anxiety, and behavioral issues that affect entire buildings. Urban life also limits exercise and forces dogs into overstimulating environments they weren’t bred for. All of this creates an ethical question about whether keeping high‑needs animals in such conditions is fair to them or to the people living around them.

Most of the dogs are off leash pitbulls, by far the worst dogs in general - they were literally bred to kill and people treat them like lovable little darlings. They're like 6% of dogs worldwide dog and responsible for 68% of attacks.

I love my dogs! Pure bliss to my life :x

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

Dogs are amazing but I agre with you.

Mostly people use dogs just to have somebody to cuddle and make them happy but treat them like shit and go out with them just the necessary amount of time for them to release themselves.

And even that depends on the "owner" the Dog itself doesnt have the right to decide when he can release himself.

Even worse with cats, where people dont even let them come out of the building, humans are the worst animals there are
