Are rocks conscious?

[I don't have any experience of full awakening so keep that in mind.]

When we say that consciousness doesn't arrive from the brain and that it was already here; does that mean everything is conscious?

of course I understand when people here say that everything is consciousness but is everything conscious? Are rocks conscious?

What is the difference between conscious and consciousness?

Just my perspective: The idea that everything is consciousness and reality is an illusion comes from Advaita Vedanta philosophy. It's a mistake, a subtle need for control, since from the perspective of a conscious being, unconsciousness is unimaginable, not an option.

Consciousness is the fact of reality looking at itself, not reality itself. So no, stones are not conscious

Conscious is an adjective.

Consciousness is a noun.

Some people believe that the substance of everything is consciousness.

But the question is what is the substance of consciousness?

Good question.
the substance of consciousness is itself . Reality is made out of itself . Could it be otherwise?

@Stick a rock isn’t conscious ..neither human beings . Rocks and humans are forms apearing within consciousness. Consciousness isn’t the ability to perceive. Consciousness is the substratum of all existence.

Rock is a concept, there's actually no literal separate thing called a rock, even from a physical-science perspective, it's just a distinction around a dense clump of silica that is still ultimately directly physically as connected to you as your hand.
