Fear of losing health

5 posts in this topic

I’m working as a taxi driver right now. I’m 22, but I worry every day and feel like I’m wasting my energy on nothing. It often feels like my health is limited, and that every hard day of work is bringing me closer to the end. It might sound strange, but that’s honestly how it feels.
At the same time, I see people in their 50s who have worked like this their entire lives and still live normal lives. So logically, I know I’m probably wrong — it’s just how I feel:)

Yeah it's what's literally happening, isn't it? 😂 Every passed day brings us closer to death.

But it seems you worry about not having enough time / health to accomplish things you want, isn't it?

I think that's a valid concern to have. But being a taxi driver for some time before you figure out what is some higher passions you have is okay. Do you also work on figuring that out?

@jacknine119 Yeah that doesn't feel right.

My sister had about the same problem, she was over-focused on a possibility of losing her health which actually made her life much worse.

In the end she dug through her traumas and healed some of those. It was related to childhood experiences mostly.

Have you considered that?

Being concerned about health is very valid even at 22. You should work on moving as much as possible if you have a sit down job. Go to the gym, or walk or run when you're not working, even half an hour of movement every day helps your health a lot. But also do the other obvious things: don't smoke, don't eat junk food, don't drink alcohol excessively, get proper sleep.

Saying that, until you're about 40, I wouldn't worry too much about health, being worried all the time is also not good for health.
