How to increase pranayama count?

14 posts in this topic

I originally posted this on the Kriya Yoga Megathread but nobody has replied in >1 week so I'm posting here

JC Stevens says that you should start doing pranayama for 12 reps a day. Then after a few months increase to 24

But I only plan on doing pranayama + maha mudra + Kriya Supreme Fire. So I can obviously increase the rate.

How do I know when to increase the amount of pranayamas I'm doing? And by how many reps?

Just by feel.

30-60 minutes of pranayama is a good number.

You can start with that and if you start to feel too much energy getting activated you can cut it in half.

You should be doing at least 60 mins of pranayama daily. Ideally 90 mins.

I do it in batches of 36 per session. 2 sessions per day. This takes me about 35 mins per session. Do more if you can take the heat. Do less if you can't.

Ideally you want to do as many pranayama as possible. Old school gurus would assign 8 hours of pranayama per day to their most serious students.

The more pranayama you do the sooner you will reach God.

Think of it like this: you need something like 100,000-300,000 pranayama to reach liberation. This is a very loose number but you get the idea. If you only do 12/day you will die before you reach it. If you do 100/day you can reach it in 3 years.

How soon do you want to meet God? Up to you.

What is the benefit of these? Increased mindfulness like meditation?

It rewires your whole mind/brain for higher consciousness.

Like lifting weight for your soul.

What are the most powerful Kriyas? Sadhguru, Stevens or Gamana?

Gamana.

Is easy to follow and direct.

Stevens is overly complicated and needs to be pruned down to the core essentials. But I like his way of visualizing the prana flowing up the spine. This is key in my opinion.

@Leo Gura

Bro. Satana gamana has a YouTube channel he recently created and it's amazing. His energy, stream of words are so sync. He's definitely speaking from the absolute.

Interesting, not what I would have expected of him.

Great find.

One of the most powerful things I have done for consciousness and tbh even relaxing the entire nervous system and healing the body is chanting or Aum/Ohming for 30 - 40 minutes in a sauna for 3 - 4 times a week. Sound is so powerful and because its long sounds, its roughly 1 - 2 deep breaths per minute.

Chanting when done properly even replaces physical yoga itself because its all about vibrational release whether you do it through sound and breath or movement. I am realizing why some great sages never did yoga movements but just meditated and chanted mostly, when done right, other practices become obsolete.

Isn't 5-Meo a faster way?

Or you mean pranayamas are supposed to rewire your mind/brain permanently and slowly, but 5-Meo is just a way of waking up quickly but doesn't stick.

I'm not highly experienced in either 5 meo or kriya yoga but I would suspect they both lead to permanent shifts, but different.

5 meo might lead to permanent nondual realization but without touching the vasanas / egoic tendencies .

Also how powerful a technique is is directly proportional to how dangerous it is. Kriya yoga is more powerful and more dangerous than mediation , 5 meo dmt is the most powerful and therefore the most dangeorus. It might be hazardous to take enough 5 meo to cause permanent awakening, depending on the person

It is much faster but temporary. Pranayama raises baseline state very slowly.

Ideally you can do both. Burn the candle from both ends.

Do you think people like Martin Ball who claim permanent awakening from 5 meo are tricking themselves? Or do you just think for your own genetics 5 meo is only temporary?
