I have no patience for developing valuable skills

5 posts in this topic

As I've mentioned in my previous post, nothing really comes easy to me. I wish I had financial abundance so I never had to worry about money again in my life. But money only comes in as a result of offering value to others. And building up something of value takes time. And I have no patience for things that take too much time to actualize. I feel a sense of urgency. I wanted more money NOW. Guess I'll just give up, I can't bear the long process... I wonder what's at the root of this impatience. I wonder if I can speed up the process somehow, idk

My fantasy is I wish I already had a natural skill that required no time to develop, just like a gift that I could naturally offer others. But I guess it doesn't work that way right?

Your expectations are just wrong.

It doesn't work that way for anyone. Even talented people work their asses off to train to be great and to perform.

Modern culture has spoiled you with an entitled attitude. You expect life to be too easy. Life has never been that easy. That is some Hollywood/Disney-spun fantasy.

Everything great requires deep patience, hard work, and long term investment.

Even just having a child is a 20-year investment. Even after 20 years of life that child will still be a fool.

You need an attitude change and a strong work ethic.

Even if you had the skill it would still be lots of work. I have the skill of speaking, but each new video still requires lots of work. Great work cannot be effortless.

Meaning and satisfaction comes from working hard and investing in yourself every day. Anything effortless isn't meaningful. It is meaningful because of how much you had to work to develop it. So pick a domain and start investing. You don't need to wait for years to feel good about yourself. You can start feeling good now, just knowing you're training hard and investing.

Your expectations seem unrealistic. That’s not how progress works for anyone. Even highly talented people have to put in years of focused effort to reach excellence.

Modern culture often creates the impression that things should come easily, but that’s rarely true. Real achievement has always required patience, discipline, and long-term commitment, ideas of effortless success are more fantasy than reality.

Anything meaningful demands sustained work. Even raising a child is a decades long investment, and maturity itself takes time. Skill alone is never enough, attitude and work ethic matter just as much.

Even when you do have ability, the work doesn’t disappear. Quality is built through consistent work, not ease.

It may help to reconsider your expectations. Growth and mastery don’t come easily for anyone, including those who are naturally talented. Talent still requires training, repetition, and persistence to turn into something meaningful. We’re often surrounded by stories that make success look quick or effortless, but those narratives leave out the long periods of patience and hard work behind the scenes. Real progress has always taken time.

Anything worthwhile is a long-term investment. Even raising a child spans decades, and learning continues well beyond that. Skill matters, but without commitment and effort, it doesn’t go very far.

Even when you have experience, the work remains. Good work isn’t effortless,it’s built.

Your expectations don’t match reality. That’s not how success works for anyone. Talent doesn’t replace effort, skilled people still train hard and put in serious work to be good at what they do.

The idea that life should be easy is a myth. Real achievement has always required patience, discipline, and long-term effort. There are no shortcuts.

Everything meaningful takes time and investment. Skill alone won’t carry you, mindset and work ethic are essential. Even when you’re capable, the work is still demanding.

Strong results are earned, not effortless.

Omg Leo, not blowing smoke up your ass, but you are a gold mine of wisdom that even this throwaway post to the user is hitting me and transforming my mind. It's motivating and inspiring

You can do it very slowly.

Just look. 5 - 10 mins a day just look at what you want to do.

You are like trying to hold the boulder of time all at once when you dont have to expect anything.

Its an ADHD thing I think.

Stop thinking and just look at whats happening now.

If you feel like its a boulder of work it will not go gracefully. All you need to do is pick up a pebble at a time.

You can pick up one pebble a day.

If you just know you only have to pick up a pebble a day you will eventually see its easy and pick up 2 pebbles a day. Then 3 then 4.

If you want to learn something you can just learn one word about the thing a day.
