David Goggins Interview

18 posts in this topic

This man is brilliant, it's very different to watch a few shorts from him to a full interview or book. This is elite 0.1% mentality and it synergizes with personal development and spirituality profoundly.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life GOD is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, because The Sun shines through All: Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

I’ve been thinking this. I think he is one of the coolest humans on this earth right now.

I wouldn’t wanna do like him though practically , I couldn’t push myself to that level. One has to have a dying desire to do it, which I don’t have and I don’t wanna have. What I mean is that I’ve listened to his interviews where he has told in detail about his worst training experience. This man once ran so hard he got kidney failure, pissed blood and broke all the bones in his feet simultaneously. Basically he put himself willingly into a “torturous” experience that felt like “the brink of death” (his own words)

But that is what is required to be able to have his mentality. Because he lives how he speaks, otherwise it would be empty words and he couldn’t probably fake that certainty. His way of talking, a normal human can’t talk like that, it comes from a one in a billion mindset and grit.

But there’s this value to be gained from listening to him even if you’re not gonna be like him. He is all about discipline, we can get inspired to move in that direction to a certain degree that feels reasonable to us.

My biggest take away from him is his ability to persevere and stay calm in suffering. We are designed to move away from suffering, but he manages to do the opposite, to move towards it in order to gain something positive from the other side of it.

I think it’s the hardest thing a human can do. And we all will face suffering so there’s value in trying to change our relationship to suffering and trying to find a way to persevere through it, if we decide to keep living through it.

Extreme athletes in general inspire me a lot. For example someone like Faith . It’s very satisfying to watch in a way.

The special thing about running is that long distance running, when it comes to the elite level, is basically about one thing: your ability to persevere through suffering. That’s why i think it’s one of the coolest sports and I have huge respect for people in it. I run and push myself too, when you feel in your body how hard it is and you imagine there’s people that go wayyyy harder, it’s just astounding.

Try not to cringe with this guy tone voice. Clearly in need of some mental help. Now I understand why Leo work is not to everyone.

For sure Goggins can be used as an Inspiring Example, he made himself into what he is today, that is inspiring for sure..

I think he is too intense though on putting yourself thru hell, then coming out on the other side and then feeling proud of Yourself..

Yes we have to learn how to deal with challenges and problems in Life, we have to in a sense push thru it, but there are better ways of doing compared to always having to Suffer thru the situation and then come out of it on the other side..

Plus, and I'm saying this as someone that is now in their mid 50's that has always been very physically active, participating in many things to a relatively high level, marital arts, gym sessions, yoga, Tennis, skiing, etc, when You push Yourself too much whether it is Physically or Mentally, and injuries arise, you can deal with it when Your Young, You can do almost anything when Young, but it will come back to You and You will pay the price when Older Trust Me, I am now dealing with back and hips issues, and my body is not nearly capable of recover and recouping like it was before, I experience pain everyday!

The Smarter way is to have Clarity in Life, so You can see the obstacles arising and deal with it before it become too hard to handle, as well establish Your BEINGNESS, basically Your inner Experience is that of Ease and Peace naturally, You'll live allot Happier and Healthier Life overall thru all the Years doing it this way imho:)

Why would anyone want to run so hard that their Kidney fails, its dumb!!

I had a friend, we would work out together at the gym, but he was sporadic, train for a week then take 3 mths off, then come back to it, I was consistent with it.. When he would come back he would go almost max weight for every lift, I said don't do that b/c tomorrow You won't be able to move, he ignored it, 2 days later when I contacted him to go workout he said he's too sore lol, this was a repeating pattern and he didn't get anywhere with lifting weights after awhile.. So the lesson learned is ease into it, then go for max performance if You want to test Yourself, but unless Your a pro athlete why do this? I never had the need to test my limits really, only in Martial Arts training but one can only do that for a short period of time.. Bruce Lee did it for Years, so much so that he majorly fucked up his back, it was only because of his intensity of getting to his goals that he overcame the back injury, you wouldn't know he had it if You see him perform like he did in his movies and real life, but he had to prep for a long time to get to that point and if he lived a longer life he wouldn't be able to keep that pace up, he burnt out like a candle unfortunately!!

Yea its good that he can work out but you dont need to. You can become confident like he says in many different ways. He says in order to have unshakable self you need to have a stack of things that you have accomplished to feel the unshakable self when its not true at all. You can actually suffer and hate yourself mentally so much and have it the same outcome.

If he suddenly had to stop moving hes donezo and God is originally inert, so its guaranteed to happen.

Its like hes doing something in order to battle his thoughts to prove to himself that hes good enough. If he becomes disabled the thoughts will come back and say not anymore.

You dont have to do anything to win the battle of mind.

Is the purpose of your pointing this out because you think others will see this as an impossible standard?

You can criticize him for super ego as much as you like, but hey. There's absolutely noone here who'd be able to replicate even 1/10th of what he achieved during his physical feats. He's definitely maxed out on the value of strength, which could be considered higher value

Same can be said of Trump.

There's no arguing that ego-mania produces material results.

At the same time he's also very motivated by unresolved trauma, or at least has been. Given his books it seems like he's resolved some of it, but at the same time he's pushed his body to the point that it's literally falling apart. Barring medical advancement he will likely be immobile in the next decade and in constant pain. Sure, he may be one of the most resilient people who have ever lived, but he also clearly demonstrates the consequences of unresolved trauma in self-destructive behaviour and putting too many of your skill points in one domain. Ironically, pure resilience has destroyed his body. He is someone to learn from, but not to imitate.
