The city where I live, when you go outside it is a freaking dog shit landmine and people think is cute.

Who says that? There is a culture of picking up after your dog in most places. 

Owning a dog in an apartment is pretty silly confomism, but I get the loneliness epidemic. So all that work done for the dog is not in vain. We'd rather pick up dogshit and pay tons of money for dog care instead of talking to eachother as we used to do.

Well, the degree of conformity is just a function of the degree of development of a society or group of people. I know very well that you can pet an animal in a non-conformist fashion. But my point is that you rarely see that, and the only reason that petting an animal crossed your mind is because of sheer conformity anyways. I am not judging you for that.
