Commonplace book

The commonplace book episode is my favorite episode. I using the software obsidian to take and organize my notes. I’m enjoying it so far. Want to ask if anyone else is using that software. And ask if Leo is still using a commonplace book and still using one note. Not sure if there is already a thread where people share their commonplace books, but that would be cool.

@origin Be careful with Notion they're notoriously a hard company to deal with and they can view all your notes nothing is encrypted. Obsidian is much better.

I've used Notion for 2 years now, up to 32 000 notes. It's a phenomenal software, thank you to @Leo Gura for introducing me to the notion of a commonplace book, it's taken my intellectual ability to a whole other paradigm.

I'll give it a try. I used OneNote before for courses notetaking.

I haven't been actively maintaining my commonplace book for a while now, but I'd recommend Obsidian. It is tried and tested and has a solid (free) plugin marketplace.

Logseq is similar and open-source, but I haven't tried it. Same goes for Joplin.

The only reason I want to start doing it is to be able to revisit old ideas that get buried over time. Other than that I don't find it much use.

We've had some Obsidian threads before, such as:

I use Scrivner a lot more than OneNote these days. Scrivner is good for organizing your writing if you are a writer. It is made for writers. I do most of my intellectual work inside it.

But OneNote will be better for general notetaking.

Honestly OneNote is quite good for a commonplace book. I had troubles with it when I wanted to write over pdf, because is not built for that. Other than that it works. But I won't be surprised if I encounter more problems with it, my trust in Microsoft is already compromised (they put ads into my personal pc).

I was using OneNote for 8 years. Switched to Notion and now learning Obsidian which looks to be the winner for now
