Team Linux. I would literally rate going Linux as one of the top 3 best decisions of my life because of the ripple effect

All my software is Windows though. That is nearly impossible.

I like macOs. I am no computer geek and macOs is simple to use. I am also a sucker for aesthetics. So I am the perfect target group.

Android on my Phone all the way though for the customizing options.

It's so bad with Windows.

Win11 is unusable.

I had to downgrade from Win11 to 10 cause it was so bad. Microsoft are devils.

Yeah, I've been dual-booting Linux Mint and Windows 11, slowly transitioning to a Linux-only setup. I still like to keep Windows around, though, just in case I need it for specific use cases, like light gaming with some kernel-level anti-cheat games.

There's a script called Windows Utility, by Chris Titus, that I like to use on Windows. It removes bloat and configures some of that shit for you. https://github.com/ChrisTitusTech/winutil

This coldfusion guy has some good docu's, in this one he basically reports that Microsoft is more concerned with Stockholders than customers, revealed by how bad win11 is!! Thank God I haven't switched over!!

Thanks! Watched it a few hours ago.

For sure. I'm not a tech guy, but I like learning about the world of software and different Linux distros. If anything, just for the fun and the philosophy behind it. What distro do you use?

Depends on the use case, of course. Have you considered dual-booting? There are decent alternatives out there in the Linux world, I've heard.

Affinity is apparently considering developing a Linux version of their app. Could be a decent Photoshop replacement at some point…

Cinnamon Mint. I have 0 technical experience and it's been pretty smooth if you adjust your expectations and have some patience.

The bottleneck of Linux has been erased thanks to LLM'S. No need to be a code nerd or scroll through forums for weeks looking for answers.

If your whole life is on Windows or Mac I highly recommend getting a second machine to tinker around with Linux in your free time (I'm not a fan of dual booting) , specifically if you're the type of person that loves customization and is highly creative. You can use both , no need to get stuck in either or.

The level of freedom and room for creative expression is astonishing. I wake up excited every morning to tinker with my machine and try new cool stuff.

I totally can see why people make fun of Linux fanatics.  Linux is the OS that a work tool like a PC should be. Using Windows for your life's work is like using a toothpick for brain surgery rather than a scalpel.

---

I may have deleted my whole OS about 3 times accidentally but I did have a backup. Don't be a fool.

AI can give you all the tech support you need.

Windows babysits you not to accidentally press the wrong button and erase an important file.

Linux puts a loaded Desert Eagle in your hands and helps you pull the trigger.

Installing Linux marked a clear before-and-after milestone in my life, no joke

Windows = Conformity.

Jobs is an inspiration

He was so articulate in his words and so original in his thinking.

He was seemingly always interested in things beyond his personal life, something that becomes hard to do once you're an adult.

Also, his ballsy ways of living, I traveled the whole world by myself, and still couldn't feel that risk-free and detached.

There's something very masculine in how he lived

Amen. The Gospel of Linux. xD

I've found Mint to be quite reliable and stable in my case, so I agree on that.

It's more closed and less customizable than Windows, but it does have a fairly consistent UI and stays out of its own way. I've found it to be more stable than Windows overall, if only because it doesn't have to cater to multiple hardware configurations. And yeah, it's generally simpler to use.

@mmKay Have fun with Arch Linux!

XFCE version almost comes with nothing.

But the KDE Plasma version is prettier.

You even have to install the Wi-Fi software.

Currently I use XFCE Ubuntu as it's very lightweight and was easy to install dual boot with Windows 10 since I need it for school.

But before this I was using Arch.

But I've used Mint, Fedora, Ubuntu, and Arch. Was going to try Pop OS but can't figure out how to install the boot loader for dual boot without it doing it for me.

And I agree that level of freedom is basically mind expanding. An exercise in non conformity and what you can get when go off the script

Exactly, it tends to work reasonably well. With Windows, it seems to be more about what you want to avoid than what you're missing.

Windows has so much powerful software that you can't find anywhere else. Not consumer software but powerful tool software for getting complex stuff done.

Win10, highly customized, works very well. No need to upgrade.

I only have experience with red hat and debian from years ago, when I was more into enthusiast stuff, dual booting etc.

I stopped tinkering with it all because I just couldn't run my work software for drawing and estimating on linux based platforms. And I have my home PC I built operating as a work machine as well as gaming.

Windows 11 is poo though I agree @Leo Gura. Like the fucken winME/Vista skull fuck they gave us....

Not sure if many users here ever had a chance to sample WinME/Vista/8 degustation menu of indigestion, frustration and revulsion 🤣🤮

I used to love troubleshooting and learning with software/hardware combos, but these days I need a tool to help me accomplish shit over breaking shit just to see how it works 😁

It is far easier to trick someone, than to convince them they have been tricked.

Win11 ruined the most important thing: File Explorer. They recoded it and now it's a slow, buggy turd sandwhich.

That's fair. Backwards compatibility is obviously also one of its big strengths.

At some point in the near future it will be phased out by Microsoft, though, unless you use some esoteric version.
