Understanding disagreement 👎

It's hopeless to try to make everyone agree with you ..obvious right ? But you have to understand why that is the case . It's not complicated..it's easy to understand but it's a helpful reminder :

Because people's opinions are made from their own knowledge and life experience. Their opinions are based on their own accumulated knowledge up until this specific point in their lives . They basically mistake their opinion for the ultimate truth or what is absolutely or universally true under all conditions.  For example they say to you "bruh this is false because of x y z".  Their X and Y and Z are their own accumulated knowledge. The sum total of the books they've read ..the podcasts they've listened to ..the life experiences they've had etc. Likewise your own opinions and point of views are based on your own X Y Z. Neither are ultimately true .both are limited . But people lack awareness of this and they think their opinions are absolute truth. But it's not their fault. They don't know any better .go watch a video of Leo in 2014 and 2016 and 2018 and 2022 and you will see him contradicting himself rudely .this is not a mistake. You learn in life everyday .your new understanding contradicts your old understanding .if you understand this then you can chill out a bit whenever someone disagrees with you or trolls your opinion. And also you yourself stop  trolling other's opinions or perspectives .

I'd argue that most opinions of people are a result of cultural indoctrination, conformity and group think.

Having an opinion is not the issue, it's how the opinion is derived (most of the time there is not intelligent or independent thinking involved.)

I think it can also be that most people identify with their thoughts and intellect.

When we challenge someone's idea, opinion or belief it is often perceived as 'I am wrong, therefor I am bad/useless/whathaveyou' and they feel internalized shame.

Another way to put it is that people don't actually judge your opinions but they judge their own understanding of your opinion .

Its not mistaking opinion for absolute truth. Absolute truth is all opinions. Your opinion is your slice of it. If someone elses dosent match your slice then you can discard it, if it paints a clearer picture then your opinion is nullfied. Your opinion is truth. Your opinion cant be absolute truth. If you want absolute truth you would either have to say all opinions are true including yours or none are true including yours.

Life as we know it is people gaslighting you out of your positions. If your positions are true to you it dosent matter what anyone says to you. If you find yourself getting angry,  or flustered because other people have differing opinions, thats a problem you have about yourself, not yours, or their opinion.

Its not anyones fault for having an opinion, theres nothing to blame there, people arent even control of their logic the brain is.

This is the basically the "What is bias" video.   Your perspective will always be skewed by your own experiences and upbringing.  You will have bias due to this.

Any finite being has bias. It's part of coming from a finite point of view.  And we all here in finite form have a specialized limited vantage point.

A finite being can't see all vantage points from it's own point of view because that's what having its own point of view means.

God has no particular point of view and thus can have no bias

Yes .why people struggle to get this despite how simple it is, is the question I would like to explore.

Because most people lack the ability to go meta.   It's a very special ability that not everyone has.   Which means to step outside themselves.

I agree .. But here's something:  you probably would agree that most people on this forum are aware of this .. then why I find it very pervasive here that people can't zoom out and realize that at the end of the day we're just not gonna agree over everything? On this very section It happens. I didn't choose this topic randomly.

Because this ability directly contradicts with the ego.  When you go meta you are going beyond and almost disregarding the ego. So even if you have this ability it's easy to just side with the ego as it is always pulling you due to survival of its own existence.   I would agree that most on here have a gear most do not but certainly not all.  Think about it. This forum is meant for debate and to do this you have to take a side.  A lot here can see the other perspective and the ones that don't- well not sure how they got here.

Who said this forum is about debate?  That's not the correct word . Maybe discussion. It's very problematic that some people come here to debate and prove their intelligence or something.  I mean it's very tempting and sexy to do that but if we can be more humble then this forum has potential to be very valuable.
