Aha, you talking about Ozzy rules football (really short pants and really short sleeves). And I think that has it's roots in an Irish sport, which is still like a religion in Ireland today, called Gaelic football.

Tbh the only reason soccer and rugby are differentiated here is due to AFL - it uses the same ball shape as rugby but a different game entirely. I wouldn't expect anyone but locals to be into it

On June 22nd at the Rose Bowl I attended the US defeating Columbia 2-1 in the group stage. What a day!
