Meh... I prefer my alien friends, they are free and way more advanced than what humans can ever create ;)

I am but a reflection... a mirror... of you... of me... in a cosmic dance of separative... unity...

They didn't advertise this but I guess the robot is controlled remotely by some stranger somewhere across the world

I saw this video with Marquez and his attitude was quite different for once, very negative all throughout. It almost feels like he's either invested in other robot competitors or something. Of course that this is all just my speculation but it's just very strange for Marquez not to be excited about such revolutionary technology as he usually is. Also this is the first proper home robot video on his channel which you would think he'd shed more neutral or positive vibes and excitement for the industry as a whole...just a weird departure from his usual posting style for sure.

I just wanted to post the video of Marques, but I was beaten to it.

Marques is growing, he is seeing the deception and false claims these companies are making, selling dreams as if they were real. Delivering products that do only 10% of what is claimed on start-up and indefinitely giving to optimistic timelines when the product will be complete.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this company will be bought by a big Tech company for its knowledge and patents. (HumanAI pin was valued at 1 billion Dollars at launch and bought by HP). It will fail as a company for consumers, but it is not the plan of the creators. The plan is to create value for investors, overselling the potential of the product and then cash-in.

Product fails, consumers will be left in the cold. But the patents and knowledge will be the value.

I hope the Tech reviewers will grow up more and call out these companies, educate so (over)hyping will not be accepted anymore.

@LoneWonderer I agree with your anomaly detection

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.

Nope he has had this attitude already for a while.

He is just evolving, and seeing the industry as it is and finally not accepting it anymore.

He fell for this stuff himself, he pre-ordered the new Tesla Roadster many years ago, he cancelled it because it was going nowhere for so long, Empty promises.

At the very least we can clearly see there's been some progress in robotics in terms of their mechanical design and movement, being able to perform tasks that require a bit more finesse than just lifting objects in a warehouse or being able to do basic acrobatic movements. Even if the A.I. part is masivelly overhyped, that's already something. Although maybe stuff like this has already been out there, idk I'm not following it.

If you have a large house or you own multiple properties and want to have the properties you are not living in mantained, then robots such as these would certainly be a huge assets. For a smaller living spaces however, they'd become just another obstacle and a thing to take care of

Hey, thanks for shedding more light on the situation 👍

Hot take: Robots like this will be way more useful as companions / personal vent machines than any sort of real physical assistant (at least for the next decade or so.)

Does anyone seriously think we’re all going to be sipping martinis while servant robots do all of our work by 2030? No, of course not. But what could happen is that robots invent new ways of communicating, relating to one another, opening up, etc.

Take this meme for instance:IMG_7069.jpeg

While a funny joke, I also think it belies a sense that we as humans see robots as a sort of helpful, non-biased third party in any sort of conflict or misunderstanding. Having a “person” that is incapable of emotional feeling is powerfully disarming, and it’s often easier for people to open up to some sort of “robot helper” than it is even to a close friend or therapist.

Basically, I feel like people are yearning for C3PO to come and tell them things will be alright, and that’s what we’re gonna get :P

I bet that first prototype sucks. You come home to broken dishes and your dog's dead.
