Vaping vs Plugging (Rectal) - practical and experiential differences

Newbie here, looking to understand the landscape of ROAs for pure psychedelic chemicals like DMT or 5-MeOs. (shameless copy-paste ) I'm also interested in MDMA and maybe ketamine, if you have insight into that.

My bias is for painless and clean ROAs such as pills, so I'm more drawn toward plugging I think. And I'm not yet considering IV or IM, although do share if you have experience with that!

It is simple. Plugging is the best ROA by far. The only question is whether the chem will plug. Most do, a few don't. All 5-MeOs, 4-AcOs, and 4-HOs plug, so there is no need to vape them.

DMT does not plug. DMT is best taken orally with harmala extract.

Mushrooms and LSD are just taken orally, no problem there.

Ketamine can be plugged.

MDMA works orally I believe. Haven't tried.

DPT can be plugged.

Salvia does not plug, must be vaped.

Phenethylamines like 2C-B can be plugged.

Mescaline can be plugged but the dose is huge.

When in doubt plug it, and if that doesn't work try other methods.

Vaping is great for quickly testing tiny doses of new chems. You can taste-test any chem by vaping a few miligrams of it.

Overall what is vaped / smoked is going to be more (heady) mentally-natured (not always, but more often than so), than what is taken internally, because it goes through different bodily systems that results in different effects. This is especially known for Cannabis for example; when taken internally, it processes through the liver, not the lungs, thus the high is more mellow, less-mind, more (body-oriented), that lasts much longer and often more medicinal, psychedelic and better integrated, because there is less chance of habitual abuse because it can be such a strong experience.

The shallow waters can be useful, at the same time more chance of being abused. It really depends on the individual and situation in life.

You can also plug MDMA crystals (not the pills!). It's even better than oral, less nausea.

Best to pick one method and treat it like your last. Take your time with it, get to know it deeply, and let it show you something back.

MDMA is not healthy for the brain so I tend to avoid it.

But I might test a bit at some point.

@- Adam - I prefer plugging for everything but for 5meos, for that I prefer vape pens with juice. 

5meos are quite unique, no tolerance and short lasting, so vaping allows to enter into the space smoothly, rise at your own pace and really control the trip.

The rest of psychedelics is just one shot one dose, for that plugging is most efficient. Beware that some substance are more potent rectally, like the 2C family and MDMA, among others, so check for that. A normal amount orally can be a heavy dose rectally for some substances.

From a phenomenological perspective, plugging gives a more smooth and nicer interaction than other ROAs, although seldomly it may mess with the guts and change your hunger, this is rare, but maybe in 150 trips it has happened like 10 times. Regarding vaping, it's also very smooth, although quick acting it also wears off quicker, it's very consistent, I just noticed a bit of headache the first times but body got used to it after the 5th trip, now it's extremely smooth. This was my case, others may not experience it this way.

Psychonaut wiki tends not to have dosage information for plugging... is it , say, generally 10-15% more than instranasal?

These are pre-made 5meo vape pens I'm assuming? Or maybe a reusable vaporizer with 5meo juice refills? You don't make the juice yourself do you?

No tolerance means you can sustain and even ramp up the trip, even at the chemical's half-life for example?
