Ralston saying he took massive doses of LSD and it didn't raise C

94 posts in this topic

I know this has been discussed before, but this video just dropped and I was wondering how come someone like him doesn't think that accessing Truth is dependent on brain chemistry.

Does he fail to consider that these tools need time and effort to get results?

Does he not understand that all states are Absolute?

I wonder what questions I should be asking, I'm kinda baffled to hear he did lots of psychedelics and still thinks this way 😅

In a way, he isn't wrong; 99% of psychedelic users don't seem to raise consciousness after the effect wears off.

If you only needed to take psychedelics to raise consciousness, we would have 1000x more enlightened people walking around, mostly in raves.

There is a quote i saw once that said that "psychedelics don't work on stupid people".

You have to have a mind for it, you have to be ready, and the right conditions to get what is happening.

Something like that happened to me:

Before i knew what psychedelics were, i started to meditate seriously, read lots of books about meditation (from a stage orange perspective, only expecting it to improve my focus and productivity). It prepared me for the psychedelic experience. I had many insights and was hooked from that point on.

Before that, I used to smoke weed regularly, only recreationally, for fun, for pleasure, not noticing anything deep. However, I had many deep trips where i was high out of my mind.

After i started with the true psychedelics (LSD, Shrooms and Ayahuasca, mostly), everything changed, even my weed trips became so intense and spiritual it stopped being fun lol.

Also, I know plenty of low-consciousness people (stage blue) who drink ayahuasca every week, and are very conservative and close-minded (even homophobic).

This explains why so few humans awaken on psychedelicsxD

"Drugs change the chemistry of your brain"

"The chemistry of your brain doesn't encounter on what's true"

I mean, doesn't he understand that those are not good reasons against psychedelic use?

His brain is on chemicals all the time, while he says those things.

Yes, so true. All experience is a drug experience. Whether it's mediated by our own [endogenous] drugs, or whether it's mediated by exogenous substances we ingest that are found in plants, cognition, consciousness, the working of the brain, it's all a chemically mediated process. Life itself is a drug experience.

That doesn't mean your normal experience is qualitatively equal to the ones that are induced by psychedelics.

No, it doesn't, for a good reason, but it still means your body is a drug factory.

I would use the word "chemical" instead of "drug".

Drugs are chemicals that affect how the body works.

I would agree with you, chemicals, yes. The body is a pharmaceutical factory. And can change the way you think, feel, etc Your thoughts are transmitted via neurotransmitters and other neurochemicals. You can proactively release various feel-good neurotransmitters in your brain based on what you think about. Your brain chemistry changes physical structures in your brain and body. All drugs are chemicals, but not all chemicals are drugs.

Also, he complains that people still don't get "what is" with psychedelics, but he does this by talking about chemical processes in the brain, which isn't "what is"; chemical processes are just an explanation, categorizations, and mental chatter.

Just because it doesn't work on him does not mean it doesn't work on others.

A basic epistemic mistake.

It's okay.

Where did you get the idea that truth is subject to the brain?

Whatever is ultimately true about reality is already true - even before you had a brain, and after you lose it.

Awakening is an intelligence thing. Like you are making logical conclusions that shake the foundation of your identitity. If you dont make the logical conclusions you wont awaken. And if you aren't looking you wont make the logical conclusions.

You think that, in order to wake up from the dream, you can do so by drinking coffee within it.

How many times have I used this analogy?

Of course you can. Just replace coffee with DMT. That's exactly how it works.

Btw, self-inquiry is just coffee.

Ralston acts like his retreats are not coffee but DMT is. But both are. There is no fundamental difference between attending a Ralston retreat vs smoking DMT. Only the DMT is more direct and powerful.

If Ralston's students had access to DMT Ralston would be out of a job.

Self-inquiry doesn't do it either.

And I wanted a cappuccino god damn it.

More nonsense.

The amount of misinformation you guys create about Consciousness is wild.

Leo gura, im sorry that i have to say this with due respect as you being my guru in the past. But you're programmed/used to lead people from materialism to spirituality/god , pretty much how the physicist tom campbell is doing so too. But you do it on a higher level. But your teachings are limited, because your baseline consciousness is limited too, and you don't have any siddhis. Psychedelics might be an aspect of this particular dimension/or this human vessel/machine for example
