Ethics of Tinder bots

I've had this idea of building an AI that does the chatting for me on Tinder and Instagram and can close dates in cafes.

We have the technology for building such thing. it would load a lot of books and principles of pickup in an AI agent. I don't want it to lie, just engage the girl for me since I get matches but can't generate engagement over text.

if it worked for myself I could sell this as a product for other guys.

is this unethical? 

I know a lot of people would judge me for building such thing. but do they have a legit point?

What if a girl dates a nice guy that is bad at texting thanks to this technology?

People already did this as soon as dating apps were a thing, havent heard of anyone selling the technology though. 

Yeah it is unethical because this information will get out and people will have less trust in dating apps in general, ruining the experience for anyone. Imagine building a connection with someone on this App but then being cautious that it might be a trick and holding back. Also a guy who is bad at texting probably wont just be great at chatting at the date, which will be confusing for the women.

AI is really bad at flirting, making coherent jokes and sharing genuine things about yourself to build connection. These are the three major ways you can actually engage with people on dating apps.

You’d probably have to configure it to just push for drinks/coffee date pretty quick, that might work quite well, if you’ve got a solid profile.

Its more than ethical its a way to fight back. Online dating apps are predatory. You cant have less trust in them. I don't know how you can say its unethical because people will have less trust in dating apps. Its not ethical to have trust in a dating app and they are already so cucked you can barely use them as is.

Its like wearing makeup in a photo levels of unethical.

Women on dating apps (and many of the men as well) are looking to get a sense of the other person's personality with the texting to help narrow down whether or not the person they're texting with is a good candidate for a date.

Women get bombarded by TONS of suiters. And she has to sort them and choose to spend her time pursuing the ones she sees as the best candidates. And using a bot to text for you would be giving women false information to make those choices off of.

Like, imagine that a woman doesn't realize that it's a bot. And then it's some violent, crazy guy who's using this tech, but the bot is coming across like a normal gentleman. And she's like, "Sure. He seems normal. I'll go out on a date with him."

Then, the woman goes on the date... and the psycho guy chops off her head. And she never saw it coming because the little red flags that the guy would have left while texting don't come through... because it was a bot doing it.

So... that's how bad it COULD get.

But even if a normal guy is using the tech... it's still misleading and a waste of time.

So, it's misleading and a waste of time at best... and VERY dangerous at worst. So, yes... unethical all around.

It is extremely difficult for me to imagine connecting with someone sane on Tinder.

Even AI would go crazy on there after 15 minutes of swiping and 3 conversations.

@Emerald thats the risk you are taking everytime you go on a date if you want to look at it that way. That can happen with anyone the person who wants to cut your head off isn't going to tell you beforehand. Or you could look at it that the chances it can happen are .0000001 for anybody you meet including someone using a bot to talk. How do you know the person isnt copy pasting replies in chat gpt to talk to you?

Yes. It's unethical because you're not presenting your own personality and thoughts.

It's like catfishing... but with your personality instead of your looks. (which as bad as looks-based catfishing is, personality-based catfishing is worse)

Now, if you used a program that was like... "Hey, this Tinder user uses a Tinder bot for introductory conversations. Type in a query to learn more about this Tinder user." that wouldn't be unethical.

But passing off ChatGPT or Tinder Bot messages like they are yourself is unethical... because it's misleading the person. It's giving them zero accurate information to go off of when they're considering you for a date.
