Do I have some mental issues or not?

13 posts in this topic

In last few years I started noticing that I make up different scenarios in my head and try to live them. In example, recently I made up a short story in my mind (not like a writer, but like a movie from first person) that I lied to someone. And it seems the purpose of me making up such story was to see how I would get out of this situation.

I make up those stories at least few times a day. When I`m less mindful, the number is higher.

And I wouldn`t call it just daydreaming. It`s like when I`m tying shoelaces, I do this. When I`m washing dishes, I do this. Basically, I do this at mindless-autopilot-like task.

So, who has the same thing? Is that some mental issue or what? Thanks.

No it's just a wandering mind and everyone has it.

You just have to ignore it.

Don't try to do anything just let it come and go.

It appears and disappears naturally.

I know what you mean.

When I was with other people, like at a family gathering or something silly like that, I used to imagine different outcomes from the current boring reality. My scenarios were always heroic. I was sitting quietly, but my mind was a totally different story.

This is not a mental issue. Once you have better, or sometimes worse, things to do, life gets in the way and you simply move on.

I lived in a little imaginary world like that up until around 17-18 years old.

It still happens to me a lot, but I am more grounded in reality now :)

I think it is just imagination running wild. I actually love it!

Do you create film clips in your mind, like a running narrative to music, as well? Big one for me.

Paying attention to reality was something I had to train myself into

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.

Its the ego what you are doing is survival. Personality and your character has to survive too. Someone who dosent do this is 'autistic'. You thinking you are real is done the same way. You are like a longer version of those stories. These are what forms identity.

Your biggest traumas are developed from these ideas that your identity forms around. Weird things happen and then you think about it alot and you take some metaphysical data and form an identity around it.

Most of the ppl of the world have this issue, and a mental health issue, just look around and see how ppl are acting and behaving, the ppl of the world are heavily brainwashed, heavily unAware, UnConscious, which is why we have what we have today in this world..

Ppl make up stories in their head either because the mind is on autopilot, combined with egoic identification and such, it makes up stories, or its a drama play too feel alive, either way its a form of insanity, we all have it, I have it, most all do, its just a matter of how Aware are You of it, the more Awareness You have the less it will affect You and where You want to go in Life...

It's called Maladaptive Daydreaming, you can look it up!

I had it since I was very little, from 3-4 years old.

I’d say to enjoy it if it’s not hindering your day-to-day life in some way. I used to do it all the time until I couldn’t anymore due to life’s responsibilities. Imagination is fun! xD:x:P

“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”

I consider mental issues when it makes you or others you interact with suffer.. else it’s acceptable divergence 👽

I don't see how this would be considered a mental issue unless it gets in the way of normal, everyday functioning - it just sounds like active daydreaming, running through imaginary scenarios in your own mind, or "being in the clouds."

Don't fret, though - we're all fucked up in our own particular ways.

:D

Damn! I really do. Ajajaja. Sometimes I create such clips in my head that I could only think about becoming a film director.

@SimpleGuy It's called limerence or fantasizing about situations with don't happen. It happens with me a lot. What I have discovered that questioning those images even though it can be painful to realize that one's imagined world is different from actual world is the key. In fact I would say it's necessary to question them so that one doesn't end up suffering unnecessarily.

It's not a mental illness by the way.
