Why is this more likely to cause happiness?

So Leo once said that being able to go Meta, or having a bird's eye view on reality is more likely to cause someone to be happy; That it is ultra important for finding happiness. But say an animal has far lower consciousness than most humans, but wouldn't a simple mind also more likely to be content? I know some countries with very low conscious simple minded people, but it's clearly stopped them from thinking and knowing too much, therefore it prevents them from committing suicide. So is it really true that generally people who can go more meta or train themselves to have a bird's eye view on reality really are generally happier? I know many children more content and at peace than many adults.

And is a more complex being (say pigs are more complex than ants) more likely to be higher in consciousness than a more simple being? And why is that or why not? Because I can just argue that the ant has less needs than a pig, and is more likely to be content and not even have to think about contentment.

Thinkers get joy from it, but for many, thinking is actually a block to happiness. It’s definitely not a prerequisite. Those who place a high value on thinking are more likely to find pleasure in deriving insight.

I think he ment that if you are unhappy then going meta is the best way to get happier. Perhaps lowering your consciousness would also make you happier in the short term but that would be counterproductive to Actualizing. Like sure being in a coma would make your problems go away but it's a less ideal method than consciously making your life better.

Leo talks alot about levels of consciousness. If you think of consciousness like a scale with God at one end and an amoeba on the other which would you like to work towards being?

I'd say happiness is doing the will of God as opposed to the ways of man. This can be interpreted on many levels. For example obedient children are probably happier than unruly ones. Following religion likewise might make some happy. At higher levels you might say the will of God is getting out of here alive! Happiness ultimately is living from your true nature which of course is what God wants and how God made you. And again this can be thought of in a multitude of ways and will change per your consciousness level.

I can likewise say happiness is self knowledge. Once you know yourself happiness cannot be assailed. You are beyond what another could do to you.

A person (Leo) that is very committed to thinking and meta stuff says that thinking and meta stuff makes you more happy.

An professional athlete will say that movement and competition makes you happy.

A gardener will tell you that taking care of plants will make you happy.

What will a bakerman say?

Look at how people behave. Literally, **** what they say, don't trust words alone.

We all tell us a lot of BS stories just go avoid cognitive dissonance. Seeing, feeling, being with someone in real life is IMO the only way to verify is a persons words match their actions.

Happiness is a complex issue. In the past, no one cared about happiness, but rather about belonging, duty, and religion. Vikings didn't ride their frozen drakkars around Sweden, committing massacres to be happy, that stuff.

Nowadays, there's no belonging or religion, so the obvious motivation remains: happiness. And what's usually perceived as happiness is social and personal success. Having good relationships, a good job, a good family, and decent mental and physical health.

The problem is that if you're a little intelligent you realize that all that doesn't make much sense when in a few years you'll be dead, and before that you'll be an old man with chronic pain and a brain like a Gruyère.

So there's only one option left: you have to truly open your perspective until you realize that you are the flow of existence and that you are on a mission, which is to exist. It's not enough to believe it; you have to see it with total clarity constantly. Then your reality expands, and at a certain point, you realize that you are happy almost all the time, since you exist, you flow with the flow. And you realize that you were contracted, as if holding onto something all the time. You let go, and the limits blur until they disappear.

Contraction arises from the constant self-protection of the form, which perceives itself as an island within the relational flow of existence. When the form recognizes itself as the flow itself, inseparable from the total flow of reality, contraction dissolves, and happiness emerges as the natural state.

Go actually watch a wild animal, they're in survival mode, they're the strung out cashier you see.

Meta strips away the 'monkey mind'. You see the concepts you've accepted as fact, the concepts that make adults less happy than children.

Self-disrespect (self-hate), self-suppression, and self-guilt lead to depression.
On the other hand, self-respect, self-love, self-confidence, and self-expression bring happiness.

Happiness is directly proportional to your highest self being expressed and loved in reality (both by you and others).

This is why, when you're in a high state, you feel the closest to your truest self (God) that you ever do in real life. You feel radiant, happy, and not blocked by your ego or suppressed. In contrast, when you're depressed, you're often reclusive, avoidant, unmoving, and hiding.

  6. Neutrality / Calm
  7. Fear / Worry / Anxiety
  8. Anger / Resentment / Frustration
  9. Guilt / Shame / Self-hate (Very Low Frequency)

All your sadness comes from ego. Imagine a life where you couldnt be offended, you couldnt be hurt emotionally, you couldnt have any negative emotion. Would you be happier?

Imagine you work customer service and someone is being really rude to you. The rude person is voice is getting angrier you become flustered. Thats first person view

Bird eye view. you are now another customer looking at this happening do you become flustered that someone is angry at customer service? No you think the customer is being rediculous and dont feel any negative emotion you feel an empowering emotion. Would that make you feel happier to feel the empowering emotion by being a birds eye of the situation.

Now pretend that there is always a third understanding person there in your life situations that understands you and you are that 3rd person understanding. Would you be happier?

Yes, knowing I am not the Body or Mind, having a space btwn what is You and Not You, birds eye view for sure allows Happiness to naturally arise..

Anti Happiness comes from too much identification with Your Mind or Intellect, which is a Survival tool, it dissects reality, chops it up into little pieces and allows You to comprehend enough to live another day, it is just in today's world living another day is not about fire, food, shelter, but about accumulation of more ppl, places and things, like friends, family, achievements, stuff, love, money etc, anytime You are all about Gathering things to make Yourself feel alive or happy, that is the same as looking for food, shelter or warmth, its the same consciousness level,

Humans are able to live way above this level of Consciousness, when that happens, Happiness is natural for You!

Happiness is a certain level of Intensity within a person that is positive for them, its the basic Quality to someone's life, compared to feeling Miserable and in Suffering of some sort.. Physically it is proven that when You are Happy, Your chemistry changes and the body is more healthy as is Your mind, the opposite is true when Your depressed, anxious, or angry/bitter about life...

Peace imo is on a lower level of intensity than Happiness, Bliss is higher, Ecstasy is even higher than Bliss on the intensity scale but with Ecstasy You can't function within a Society, you won't care, with Bliss You still care about others, what is going on around You and Society as a whole...

Depends. Taking a more bird eye view of life could free you from most petty human issues. But it could also lead you down a path of nihilism, existential anxiety (about death for example), sense of hopelessness and meaninglessness. It’s no guarantee of happiness. But I think it’s a preferable view because it puts your priorities straight

Basically peace is happiness right? Or say not comparing oneself to others. Or the more thinking we do the more cause of unhappiness. Reducing the number of thoughts we have is happiness? Emotional numbness? When one is focused on one activity.

You tell me. In the conventional sense, peace and acceptance sound helpful - though a bit lame and ordinary.

On the other hand, there might be a relationship between being and happiness.
