Trump fuming after absolutely brutal takedown by South Park

38 posts in this topic

Kudos to this show than having more of a backbone than %90 of our politicians.

Background context for this is that South Park's just signed a $1.5 billion contract with Paramount, which is in the middle of a corporate merger for which they need approval from Trump's FTC. While this was going down, Trump pressured CBS to get Stephen Colbert taken off the air, since the comedian has been a vocal critic of Trump.

In the midst of this shit show, South Park is throwing down the fucking gauntlet and daring the man-baby to try to get the cartoon taken off the air - and nuke the merger between Paramount and Skydance Media in the process, because he can't handle mockery. Additionally, Trump was trying to pressure Paramount to air 'pro-Trump' advertising, which South Park was all too gleeful to oblige.

This may seem like a lark, and it kind of is, but it highlights something important about how you deal with an abusive narcissist who's the head of a fascist cult - through ridicule and disdain, not argument and debate.

Debating only creates the dangerous illusion that the Trump's "ideas" (ie, his staggering criminality, bigotry, and incompetence) are worthy of consideration. They're not. And good on South Park for recognizing that.

(Heads up, these clips are extremely NSFW. Trump goes low, South Park goes lower.)

This is just what the world needs right more. More gloves-off satire and mockery of the clear insanity that is the Trump regime.

The scenes at the Trump White House genuinely reminded me of old early-2000s South Park, lmao. His bullshit needs to highlighted for what it is.

Mockery is a weird weapon, but for cases like Trump is a good way to go, because we already saw that logic is not working.

Yes , and everyone eats it up. The fact that the cultural response is so vulgar is deeply sad. Even just watching it just degrades your soul, and society's writ large. You have to be smarter how you ''oppose'' unconscious people. The filth ruins your clothes.

I have more reason to oppose Trump's policies than others. But I will take the White Rose pamphlets spread in Nazi Germany over this at any day in the week.

Trump makes it so obvious why tyrants and dictators take control of the press and kill or cancel any dissenting voices. Trump is a real time showcase of the psychology of such leaders.

Like it or not, we're living in an attention economy where our opposition is intentionally flooding the zone with shit to keep people distracted and afraid.

We go high, they continue throwing brown people into concentration camps while memeing about it, while their white nationalist enablers clap like drunken seals at the cruelty that's being inflicted by this regime.

I don't want to be the most conscious person in a gulag  - if we're not willing to adapt to the environment we're living in, we might as well admit defeat and let Trump crown himself a king.

You already made him your king by willing to throw beauty, dignity & decorum under the bus for a potential political victory. Look, I don't expect posters with flowers to immediately win political battles. I understand the desire to be as vulgar as possible.

But at least for me, I cannot live with the vulgarity. I urge you to think about the philosophy of beauty..aesthetics.

I don't expect the culture to self-regulate its urge to insult others, but think critically of how you oppose Trump because I guarantee you it's polluting your soul more than you think. And then what's the point of winning such a war? There are still more dignified ways to protest and I will be searching for them when I do protest.

South Park went so low that there is nowhere else to go.  If it doesn’t work, they have used up all their bullets.  It just shows desperation.  The long term solution is for the democratic party to become a party again that people want to vote for.

I can respect that.

But I'd also counter that 'we' didn't do anything, because America is not a unified culture - Trump was given another bite at the coup apple because tens of millions of Americans were more comfortable voting for a convicted rapist over a highly qualified black woman.

When the only language that your opponents understand is raw, unaccountable power, you use whatever tools are at your disposal. Fact is that mockery and disdain are powerful tools for undermining a wanna-be king, who's also an abusive, insecure narcissist.

I’m reminded of Disney cartoons mocking Hitler, Mussolini etc during WW2 to invigorate the populace and improve morale.

I can understand the desire to appeal to decorum, truly I do, but sometimes you just have to face the fact that the things some people do truly are that ridiculous / destructive that the only way to get people to wake up is to point them out for the crass buffoons that they are.

Donald Trump, Stephen Miller etc are not mere victims of circumstance. They’re adult beings will full agency over their actions. If they wilfully use their power to steal from the economy, promote violent hatred and rape the civil institutions that prevent society from collapsing, fuck em, they should’ve known better.

EDIT: Donald Trump is literally a child rapist who uses his power and influence to avoid punishment for his crimes. You can’t get much more foul than that.

It’s like liberals have learned nothing. They made hundreds of caricatures of trump had it had next to no effect.

Get out of USA then if you think it's going to get any less "vulgar".

That's what worries me the most.    This has been going on for more than 10 years

We do though.

No you don't.

Epstein trafficked many over-age girls too. Trump could have easily used him to hook up with 18+ year old girls.

I have no idea if this backfires because its so low or if this is exactly whats needed.

But when they go so low and get away with it, they at least remove fear for other creators to critique trump.

I used to watch South Park when I was little; it's a reference to the episode with Saddam Hussein, and of course, to the movie.

Now, I'm not pro-Trump, but it's a very overrated show; it's vulgar and not funny.

Nothing will prevent Willy.
