Someahow this sort of debates dont help at all the whole situation with the MAGA. This idea that one will win by appeal to Facts and common sense is bad strategy.

What you guys think?

I watched this, gave me anxiety and I believe it's toxic and doesn't give much value. It was interesting to see the crazy things people believe but it's basically unconscious people talking over each other. Also people most of the time they are arguing over definitions on that channel.

In most debates the person who can think the quickest and has a more authoritative rhetoric usually seen as "winning" even if they aren't right.

I can't watch these Jubilee videos. It's just two hours of a pissing contest.

Every time I try, I end up quitting after a few minutes.

"Finding your reason can be so deceiving, a subliminal place.

I will not break, 'cause I've been riding the curves of these infinity words and so I'll be on my way. I will not stay.

I understand, and of course I dont watch it all, I skip a lot, and yes is gringe, but it shows the level of deception going on in some minds.

Those videos are just dogfights, organized to generate clicks and views.

I don't see productive debate being modeled there. So I agree with them doing more harm. It's just people fighting.

That was one of the worst programs I've ever seen.

People are getting shameless about being fascists and receiving praise for it; the US is fucked.

These kinds of debates seem to be designed to just make the people we don't like look like idiots. If we already know that they are idiots, then this is probably just entertainment. Something helpful would have to go far beyond debating the right wing and try to convince them that they live in an entirely false sense of reality.

It would have been more helpful/interesting to understand how these individuals came to these views and extreme beliefs. It would have brought up a good debate about online echo chambers, and how they radicalize young impressionable youth in their most vulnerable states. None of these kids are boomers, none of them grew in an America that was all white, they were born well into the post racial America. Having these white nationalist beliefs are definitely not normal for this generation.

Yes, this world is weird, everything is possible, maybe the guy even pre planned that since there is already one case of a woman that harrased a black boy and because there was local repercutions she plead money to escape the consequeces. This is the level of depravity  these people live. Of Course, survival.

Straight arrow news...can I trust this site? Sounds interesting. My political knowledge is terrible. I can pretty much Intuit that Donald trump is a dangerous dumbass, but it can be hard to know which media sources to trust. Leo said don't trust any of them off hand. While I don't automatically believe any media I read it would be handy to know that there's a source that is more neutral and unbiased and generally accurate than others.

(Btw this is quite a powerful debate, that lib guy has clearly done his homework. while this style of communication is inherently flawed, because of the blatant emotionality involved, it nearly takes someone like him to combat Donald trump's own method of "who can speak louder" 🤦🏽‍♂️).

Maybe the first rule of communication with human  beings is making sure you are really in front of one. Otherwise the rules of coherent communication dont apply.

A guy openly said “I’m a fascist” on a major platform. He lost his job—but then made a fundraiser and walked away with $200K.

This isn’t just alarming—it’s a warning sign. When hate is rewarded and rebranded as “free speech,” we’re in dangerous territory.

Don’t normalize it. Don’t brush it off. This should deeply concern you.

I’d be wary of dehumanising people. Even those with very low consciousness beliefs.

Firstly, because it legitimises the use of dehumanisation in discourse.

Secondly, because when you dehumanise there is a tendency to attribute inherent nature as the cause of someone’s world view. Instead of thinking about how life experiences have shaped the development of that persons world views. For example, standard of education received, resentments they have, how bad faith actors have manipulated those resentments by telling them certain resonating narratives.

There is no failure, only feedback

One small step at a time. No one climbs a mountain in one go.

I actually think this video is more powerful than usual...getting rights to literally admit that their fascists is kinda mad. When he hesitated after being asked if he would condemn Nazi's I knew it was a good video.
