Why are jewish people hated ?

56 posts in this topic

I am talking about the pogroms and about the holocaust ? Like if you study standard history they seem to be no clear reason other than just "evil". However this is not a serious answer. So the question becomes: why ?

But to say jewish people are hated is silly and wrong imo.

Is Bernie Sanders hated? Is Dave Smith hated?

A lot of hatred for Jews around the world today. Anyone who hates Jews (or hates anything) is delusion.

Don't kid yourself, the answer to your question is just that. Anyone who hates Jews is deluded.

However, there is also (what Leo refers to as) "critiques from above," and these are usually constructive and intelligent positions that are not grounded in hatred or demonization. That is totally legit.

But most of the people who hate Israel and Jews are brainwashed and not thinking for themselves.

A high quality critique of zionist ideology or "the Jews" (which is, c'mon, a very broad group that includes reform Jew from California who supports Gaza and settler Halachic Haredi man in Jerusalem with 6in thick glasses on the other end of the extreme) is not gonna be grounded in hatred.

Yes they are, by many people. Just look up their names on Twitter.

Any intelligent person is not gonna critique or call out or demonize "the Jews."

They will be more intellectually rigorous and clarify that who/what they are talking about is a particular minority of Jews with settler, zionist ideology. They will be specific about labeling the problem at hand, which is never simply "Jews."

People who hate "Jews" are antisemitic. For Jews are all kinds of people. To demonize all of them is stupid. Some Jews are very progressive and socialist mentality and deny conventional tenets of Judaism, are atheists, support Gaza, and just identify with "being Jewish" for community outings and potlucks and shit like that..

And also loved by even more people. Trump and Hillary Clinton are also hated by many and they aren’t jewish.

Then again, you are talking about hatred for Jews throughout history. Why have they been demonized by the world for so long? They have been exiled, subject of pogroms, etc..

I don't know why. A lot of zionist ideologues say that it is because the Jews are the chosen people and so obviously everyone hates them because they are doing God's work, and that position is equally as deluded as "because the Jews are dirty criminals."

Being culturally isolate is perhaps the biggest cause why people are suspicious of Jews historically.

It goes both ways too.

Some Jews aren’t fond of Christians.

Maybe it’s just tribal/team mentality

It's an odd phenomenon.   But now they'll be criticized over the destruction of Gaza and also taming Iran.  But the Jews will be persecuted no matter what we do.  We aren't good enough so pick on us.  Perhaps they're just jealous.

Judaism as a religion is unique in how little it is tied to a particular nations history and culture compared to every other religion. Islam is uniquely Arab, Christianity European and Hinduism Indian but Judaism precedes having geography for most of its history. Jews can be found a bit all over the place as a minority religion.

They've always been doing their own thing to a certain extent and been principled in their culture for better or for worse, which has lead to conflict. Generally, people don't like foreign, much less in the past.

Largely because they've always been successful.

Scapegoating.

Jews make an easy target. Their religion feels “familiar” to other Abrahamics but not familiar enough that it still seems strange (read: “dangerous.”) The association with Jews and money also makes them another popular target. Then of course there’s the fact that many Jewish communities have historically been protective of their culture (meaning people see them as “suspicious others”) and the whole “chosen people” thing (although I would argue this isn’t unique to Judaism), and you have the perfect recipe for people to make up all sorts of conspiracy theories.

Really, at the end of the day, it’s just people projecting their worst fears about themselves onto someone else. Jews are stereotyped as “greedy” and “manipulative”, but look around you and ask what culture isn’t? White people are greedy. Arabs are greedy. Corruption exists in all cultures, the idea that Jewish people are “inherently” worse than any others is just… hateful nonsense.

It’s a shame too, because there’s a lot of beauty in the Jewish religion. Go read some Jewish poetry or medieval Jewish theology on the nature of God’s love and it’s hard not to feel moved. I really hope one day humanity gets over its urge to find one group of people to blame for their problems.

No, im not sure where you got that. I’m generally pro-Palestine, it’s just that I see a lot of toxicity in the Palestinian side too.

I think both the Israeli government and Hamas are scumbags, truthfully. I think violence causes more problems than it solves. And I think both sides misunderstand each other.

More seriously because they are gregarious, religious, and more present than average in certain high-capital sectors.
It's perfect for conspiracy theories.
