Synthesis of gender/queer theory with pick up/seduction theory.

Gender theory teaches us that gender is performative. Pick up theory teaches us that seduction is about your behavior more than about your looks or possessions. If we intersect both insights, and say that straight feminine women are attracted to masculine men, then the behavior of that man determines if he's a man aka if he's masculine which determines whether he's going to attract the feminine women he wants. In essence seduction from the male perspective, is about creating a fiction of masculinity through behavioral mastery, to then perform and embody the masculine man ideal that attracts women. Even though in essence gender is fluid and non binary.

Yes, that's essentially true that pick-up is about gender performance... as are all actions taken to affirm one's own gender identity.

So, a man learning pick-up or "how to be Masculine" is about performing the male gender to feel more embodied in the identity of maleness.

So, I can see connections between the notion of gender performance related to trans identities and the gender performances that straight/cis people do to affirm their own gender.

It comes from the same motivation.

Not really accurate. Most of pickup is learning how to talk to a girl and drag her to a bedroom. You're not performing for her. You're doing what women require to have sex with them.

There is a process for sex to happen. Pickup is that process.

All women are not naturally feminine nor are all men not naturally masculine but a portion is and then it’s not performative when it’s who you authentically are.

@Sugarcoat I think it's wrong. We don't do it with any other species. You don't come up with a set of norms for how a wolf should act and then judge an actual wolf, in real reality, whether it is wolfy or not. Whatever the wolf does is a wolfy thing to do, by definition.

To be honest I don’t know enough people to be able to draw a conclusion about wether there is a tendency for an at least significant portion of women and men to somewhat fit into norms of femininity or masculinity . So I can’t say if the definitions are wrong. Few people btw expect women/men to fit into them exactly, it’s regarded quite loosely I think
