Do you truly believe that being under ideological illusion to such comical degrees can really produce happiness? If so, how would you even define what happiness is? Just meeting your survival needs?

If you are able to delude yourself and not question yourself, that can lead to a kind of happiness.

Delusional people can be happy precisely because they are so deluded. But that is incompatible with our work here. You have to not be a truth-seeker/philosopher.

Imagine a slave master who is so deluded he thinks that slavery is good for his slaves. This keeps him happy. But if he ever realizes how evil slavery is, he will be in horrible pain. So it's a question of whether he can keep himself that deluded for his entire life. Maybe he can, maybe he can't. And of course, his slaves could kill him in his sleep. But he could also get away with it.

Of course, and the happiness that ideology produces is like a house of cards, it has to be maintained all the time, and can be easily taken away and turned into a horrible suffering, if they ever realize their deluded ways, as you mentioned with a slave-owner example.

They seem so busy with all that stuff, it seems very important to them, all the meaning they create, and existencially speaking, makes me wonder how is that different from the meanings that I use to derive happiness from in my life.

I find it funny that women wear beautiful wigs. Like, they shave they heads because long hair is seductive to men as they say, and then, they use even more seductive wigs to cover their bald heads. Ridiculous, lol.
