Traps for online content creators

This is a serious amount of self reflection coming from experience. And it can apply to much more than just online content creation.

From equating human romance to the value obtained from a toilet, to analysing the self so much we need a staple gun to the forehead. Only @ Actualized.org 😁😁😁

What is the flipside to the traps for online content creators @Leo Gura ? From your experience, what are the principles of effective content creation, or of being an effective content creator? I ask because I have recently begun my journey as a content creator, and would like insight or feedback from someone who's been providing high consciousness content on a consistent basis for years.

Maybe effectiveness is just a matter of continuous action and reflecting on what went wrong/right, and simply not falling into the traps intially. Though I feel my view in this would be limited since I'm at the beginning, and feedback from friends on my content is pretty limited too. Thank you for sharing the traps!

That's like writing a whole book.

I just finished writing the blog post and I am exhausted.

Bro, I flushed my upstairs bedroom toilet a few months back and gallons of shit-water was raining from my kitchen ceiling.

You ain't never owned a house yet.

My toilet broke me worse than my last girlfriend.

If you don't think your toilet will break your heart, you're in for a rude awakening.

Just frame control your toilet :D

Who does this advice apply to?

Quoted from your blog post #446:

"Do you have any idea how much your mind is fooling you?
It’s conned the shit out of you.
Do you realize that? Your mind has invented so much shit that you barely know up from down."

Did you have to pay out of pocket for these repairs or was plumbing by insurance? My parents live in Vegas and many of the insurance companies they spoke to refused to cover burst pipes.

Insurance is not going to cover that.

About the Clavicular post— I’m not sure I agree that Clavicular got his looks from genetics. They play a part, but he actually did a lot of procedures including taking steroids during puberty, which can have a real effect.

Obviously he’s not a highly conscious person, but I think he represents an interesting cultural moment more so than a horrible grifter.

If you watch his podcasts, it’s obvious that he’s actually fairly intelligent and reasonable in his views.
For example, this is one podcast.

I actually went down the rabbit hole with this guy yesterday. To be honest I do think part of his gimmick is that he sees how much attention he gets for basically doing this “looksmaxxing” meme stuff. He really  leaned into it and just from a marketing / click perspective it sets his videos up so they are kinda funny to watch and go viral due to how ridiculous and outrageous they can get. Apart from that he he’s now grifting a looks course and stuff so he’s able to grift insecure people this way, also it seems a lot of his followers send donations to him to talk to him on his stream. I have no clue why anyone would pay $5 to send this guy a message. The new generation is really so lonely. Apart from all that I don’t think he really cares about red pill or politics. He has 100% leaned into the looks thing and I think wants to run with that gimmick hard. If the trend on that moves on, which it will, he will probably then pivot to being more political or whatever else is popular with young men and incels who spend money on stake us.

@Leo Gura I read your post on all the ways content creation can lead to living dishonesty.

I make videos as well. I make travel videos on YouTube and I’m around 50 away from my first 1000 subs. I used to put great pressure and importance on my videos having to do well and in a subtle sense doubting my spirit if they do not. I’ve done a lot of reflecting and have let go of a lot of these beliefs and expectations, whether or not my channel ever blows up doesn’t define my worth and it definitely doesn’t come before god, but after.

I still though do have an authentic desire to create my videos and will continue to do so, with my other responsibilities I have time for about 2 shorts a week clipped from a 1 a month YouTube video. I jsut am not sure I can produce more than that. I did at one point and got 25,000 follower on TikTok this way but it really sort of sucks the passion from it. I realized being authentic and actually making content that I enjoy and is really authentic to me is more important that constantly turning out videos to keep up with the algorithm output and trends.

I have a few questions though. What would you say is a good mindset to go about creating videos on YouTube where you can be authentic and passionate and make the content that you want to make, mature and deep content but also still give considerations to the practicalities of the algorithm, some time frames like one video a month, not totally ignoring trends and clicks which are sometimes needed to jsut even get eyes on your work, etc. it’s basically the balance of practical truth with heartfelt truth. How do you balance these two and grow sustainably and authentically? If you wrote a blog post on this I would read it, the last one on traps is pure gold for anyone who wants to make videos for social media.

@Leo Gura

Hey Leo,

I really enjoy your blog. As someone here said before, and I completely agree, it really does shift your state of consciousness. It is so unique and profound.

Thank you!

That feels like an impossible expectation at a certain point.

That's when growth happens, you gotta break the glass ceiling to higher love. I'm talking from direct experience in a 7+ year relationship.

There's really no other option, or your love is increasing or it stagnates and decreases. Entropy is a powerful force, it will bring you both apart. Your comment already is the diagnosis.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life GOD is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, because The Sun shines through All: Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

I loved the traps of content creation article. I will come back to it time to time to remind myself.

At the same time, I felt it a bit blackpilling. It could benefit from another post on why despite all those traps, it can still be very worth it.

EDIT: also, a super valuable post would be "the traps of hosting a forum/community"!

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

I think the main mistake here was to assume you need to live in a multiple story house in the first place. And that you needed a toilet at the upper floor. Key takeaway: always shit on the ground floor! Unless you live in a flat, then your neighbours can deal with it

@Leo Gura I think it would benefit you to study proof based mathematics.

You said on your blog that rational and logical thinking are limited because it is mechanical.

Personally, I felt as though my math degree upgraded my mental discipline and gave me the skills to think much more slowly, deeply, and abstractly about any problem, even ontological ones. Especially epistemic ones. I also felt like I became much more careful about telling the difference between feeling like an explanation or proof is right and it actually being right.

If I am correct you studied aerospace engineering, meaning you studied lots of math but did few proofs. So of course you have a view of science and math as being mechanical and unintelligent in a way. Engineers don't really give a good treatment to math/physics.

I challenge you study basic analysis or discrete math and try your hand at mathematical proofs. I think you will find they require much more intuition, patience, discipline, care for self deception than you expect. It will train you to be able to think more slowly and carefully, and question yourself more. You will also come out the other side more informed about the field of math, sharpening your various critiques about it and the hard sciences. Worst case scenario, it will just be an enjoyable pass time.

Of course. What I say doesn't contradict that. You are talking about mastering rationality, the rational stage of cognitive development. That is very important. Necessary to reaching post-rational.

I took a class in logical proofs. I dislike that stuff but I understand its importance in laying a rational foundation.

The book Godel, Escher, and Bach is a prime example of that and enjoyed it very much. Even thought I don't do the actual logic. My mind does not work in a formal, logical way. My mind is much more poetic and visionary.

@Leo Gura Did you get top grades in almost everything when you were in school? Were you superior or did you feel superior when you started university?
