  1. I also highly recommend Leo’s video on body awareness. This is a foundational episode, especially for those suffering with mental conditions such as you and me. This will also help deepen your meditation and yoga practices.

I just watched this episode yesterday;  throughout the day I already started to notice just how often I clench my fist and raise my shoulders unconsciously. Also, I’ve dealt with eczema ever since I was a baby, and throughout my life I would always start itching my face, neck, hands, etc. whenever I was in a stressful situation. Becoming more aware of your own triggers and signs before they become too big to handle is key!

@Vagos I would focus more on not thinking for a while and building up your meditation, concentration, and yoga skills.

I find the questioning to be ineffective without first being in a calm mind state.

This is true from my experience. When I was a newbie I decided to jump into a 10-day silent retreat by myself at home. I only completed 9; most of the time was spent sleeping and overthinking.

This is not to say it was a complete failure. You can actually learn through your failures what you are and are not ready for and adjust your plan accordingly.

  3. @Vagos Damn, you have one hell of a plan there! I admire your tenacity.

That right there, what you said, that is your first step to awakening. You’ve got this.

My advice is to take the SSRIs in the meantime. Nobody is forcing you to take them forever, so that right there should be reassuring. But also don’t be in a rush to get off them. This work is long term, so be strategic ;)

I went off of them cold turkey

Please don’t do follow this advice. I don’t care if one person claims they’re successful doing it or not... it’s still a gamble you’re playing on yourself. I’ve personally done this a few times, and the last time was not pleasant (I’ll not go into the details of that).

Otherwise, for those who want to get off them, please do the mature thing and let your doctor know. There can be huge consequences for going off them cold turkey, especially if you’ve been on them for a long time since your body has been accustomed to it.

Have you actually experienced it while on an SSRI. I'm not looking for an excuse at all!! I'm worried that I might not be able to get enlightened because I'm on an SSRI. But if you have been there while on an SSRI then that's a nugget of hope for me! :)

I’ve been in your shoes worrying if this, that, or there will prevent me from getting enlightened. Ultimately you are your own obstacle, nothing else is.

And who goes “there”? Please be careful with this work because you can make many wrong assumptions like I have and waste a lot of time.

  6. Leafly

Largest cannabis website. You can check user ratings and reviews for many cannabis strains. Also contains useful educational articles about cannabis.

(While you’ll mostly read up about cannabis use for medical and recreational use, I have no doubt that it can also be used for spiritual and creativity purposes if you are mature enough and ready to use it for that.)

I see 2 "problems" with my general approach:
1)Paralysis by analysis - aka mental masturbation (i have an area in my life where I study "how-to" for more than 1 year, yet I took almost zero action till the recent 1-2 months or so).
    2) People suck at building habits.

An important thing is to be mindful.

highly recommend watching Leo’s episode on “Body Awareness - How To Relax Your Body”.

For some reason I missed out on this episode; I haven’t gotten around to it until today. This is a foundational episode, especially for people like you and I who overthink and have trouble taking consistent action.

Most importantly, work on the root cause of why and what causes you to be paralyzed by analysis. Otherwise you can keep getting excited with new habits, routines, concepts, etc. but they won’t penetrate deep into your entire being. You’ll end up doing these habits for a year, but then out of seemingly nowhere you quit.

    Awareness alone is curative ;)

  8. My mom will only watch/listen if I invite her to do so with me. It’s always a video that I’ve already watched and felt the need to share with her. Otherwise it’s just me.

However, I’m becoming more aware that sharing and/or watching videos with others could be a major distraction, because they don’t absorb/ take action on the information seriously and forget about it.

    Psychedelics

@krockerman If you take this route, I can’t stress enough that you must do your research and be honest with yourself. Really ask yourself if you’re mature enough to handle taking them or not at your current stage of development. Don’t let your ego answer this question.

Start slow if it’s your first time. Don’t be an idiot like me who took more than I could handle. I also realized from those experiences that my mind was desperately in need of purification all along.

So really after all is said and done, things will go good in the end even if you have a bad trip or two. Learn from that higher wisdom that’s within you always.
