  1. It looks like you're catching a snag in a mental web You don't have to pull things out, track them, etc this is the mental conflict itself. The way out is to let go of the attachments around the negativity, desire, self-image, stop feeding them, let the mind become clear and build momentum from that state
  2. Have you taken the time to study both sides? both perspectives? Surely you can't come to any conclusions before then?
  3. Meditate first, it changes everything. There's nothing more important than a clear mind and peaceful heart, let everything you do in your life originate from a clear mind and peaceful heart
  4. I've watched a lot of these videos just to study Ray's behavior—he has practiced the same line of questioning on thousands of people who are unprepared and mostly uninformed or without solid beliefs. Many of these guys like Ray first set up the playing field to trap the person in their 'reasoning', so they can avoid all the possible arguments the person may have, and guilt or fear them into submission. Of course, when Ray is debated by Lawrence Krauss he gets destroyed. (Orange dominating Blue) However he is working everyday to make people stop and question their lives/morals/goals which is great, but he doesn't understand the deeper reasons why this is necessary or why people usually get emotional. And the forcing of his beliefs on others tends to muddy the results. The channel is basically a way for Ray and his subscribers to reaffirm and 'prove' their religion daily.
  5. Wouldn't you feel safer if you could rely on your own inner-stability, skills and abilities, so if life decides to collapse all of your income sources you will feel confident you can make it? One reason you may have so much anxiety around money is it's not a permanent and stable thing. It's only a system of measurement. A wild animal deals with disaster repeatedly, and each time: they find new, build new, over and over You have to accept that everything can be lost tomorrow. If you can't accept this and move on, you will suffer. But since it's here now, you can use it for what it's for (uni, shelter, food, cloths, shoes, transportation, internet and bills) notice how you didn't include everlasting peace and infinite love in your list.....so start looking in the right place
  6. know that the self-discipline and work you put in to overcoming it leads to things far better than what weed can give you. that's how you'll never fall back into old ways, by replacing it with something undeniably better. I tried weed out of curiosity after I had been meditating for multiple hours daily for years already, and though I can understand the appeal, it actually brought me to a state less desirable than my baseline—(what I feel all the time without any help)
  7. Your perspective of what food is has to be changed. This happens as you meditate and pursue a spiritual path. If you can become fulfilled apart from all material form, you won't look for the pleasure and fulfillment through eating. Then, eating only happens as-needed. You can improve your situation through dieting, fasting, etc. but following a path of deepening awareness will bring you to the root of the struggle
  8. Take care of the body, stay healthy and clean, smile more, stay fit, treat it nicely and you will be naturally more pleasant/attractive Keep pursuing a path of growth and maturing, keep becoming more conscious, you will naturally be more pleasant/attractive you are much more than your looks Contemplate this, your bare appearance is one of the things that can't be changed, how does it make sense to continue this resistance? It doesn't help, it actually will only negatively effect you. You have to find a way to move on Looks are a tiny part of this life, most times they are irrelevant. Focus your attention into a talent, dream, skill, life purpose, these will have a far greater impact and lasting effect than your mere physical appearance
  9. eating an animal consciously, there is great respect and gratitude for its life, using one to fulfill your desire for pleasure becomes something entirely different.
  10. I'm not sure if this applies to all disorders but in general I've noticed this: mental illness can occur when you become intensely separate, which means there will be something in the world that intensely opposes you. or you may become so fixated on something which you strive to achieve complete control over. there will be fear and paranoia around what the enemy happens to be, and pain and trauma when you come into contact. there will be fear and paranoia around obsession, pain and trauma when you lose control over it. to survive, you become so identified with and attached to body-mind that you believe it to be the self, and the intelligence and energy of your mind/body is used against itself, causing great harm and suffering, while believing what you're doing it right/helpful/necessary. this imbalance prevents healthy functioning. these instances involve separation: being unable to accept certain parts of the self / whole, impermanence: being unable to flow/cope with continuous change control/ownership: attaching to things that don't exist or can't be controlled identification: believing the body-mind, personality to be the self fantasy: confusing imagination with reality ignorance: being unaware of how to balance the mind and heal
  11. College is a structure which 'makes you productive' and guides you to a place where you 'produce'. Everything is planned out and automatic. You'll still need to offer something after enlightenment Understand if you don't believe in that system you'll have to replace it or build your own. Which way is more worthwhile for you? Do you want to take advantage of existing systems or reinvent/improve them?
  12. Your system might take 2-3 days to really slow down. You might feel madness during that time. By the end of the week, you will certainly be in a different state of being, but after returning home it will return to normal after a few days. It's long enough to experience deeper awareness but not long enough to have any major effect. So I suggest not trying to make it as constructive as possible but allowing yourself to deeply relax and enjoy it. (like in your profile picture) Having a big family isn't a problem, the purpose of the retreat is to expand your perspective so when you come back to your life, how you see and relate changes. It's hard to do that when you're in the heat of it. At the end, reflect on what long-term changes you can bring back to your life to live more consciously. This usually involves removing things that aren't important/healthy and putting more energy into things that are. The distance, stillness and silence will tell you what to do
  13. When do you think he'll start doing this as president? There are plenty of issues for him to take a pick, and pour his smarts into
  14. looking at your response, it seems you have missed the point of the video contemplate how you reacted to it, it's not about Leo
  15. do you feel unworthy of living more consciously? could it be you aren't yet used to a state of being void of problems? sounds like you're doing fine, meditate on gratitude and continue on
