I cannot see this in my country. Do they fear I become a Nazi after watching this? I am a German so of course it's in my gene to become the next Hitler...I just need to see Nazi material. Then maybe it's better that I cannot see the history of my own country and just know what I was teached in school.

That also always annoyed me when I lived in Germany. The search for truth can be dangerous.

I mean, the progression from 2-Back to high-end 4-Back says a lot. Other than that, it does actually feel like I've gained an additional 10 IQ points. I think faster, I read faster, I write faster, I perform mental arithmetic faster, I stumble less often when I speak, I'm better at listening to people speak, understanding things, etc. I think another thing that helped significantly was adding sprints to my training regimen, so that may be a confound for how I feel subjectively, but still, I was advancing in n-Back ability before that as well.

Ok thanks. I will give it a try again.

Consistency over volume for this. My routine is 10 sets every other day, which takes 17-18 minutes if you rest 10-20 seconds between each set. It's not a big investment in terms of time, but it can make you a bit tired, so you should ideally not prioritize it over work. I sometimes crank out those sets while commuting, so no time is really lost. I think it's definitely worth the investment. My mind is a lot quicker than it used to be.

The problem is not the time it is the depleting willpower. How much percentage do you think did you become better?

    Edit 1

    Saw that one on reddit:

Because I had taken at least 16 IQ tests that were all below 119. Then when I start dual n back it increases this rapidly.

I'll tell you exactly what changes I feel.

I notice I can take in words when I read in dramatically greater numbers. I used to read 1-3 words at a time, but now I'm almost taking in an entire line of words at a time, which is about 12 words.

I also notice I've stopped thinking in words. Now I think purely in causal relationships, if I'm making myself understandable.

And the physics. Oh the physics. Everything just clicks, and I know it's just me because the average grade in my class has stayed more or less the same.

    M87 is a big boy

    I asked AI bing:

    Quote

M87 is a giant elliptical galaxy that contains a supermassive black hole at its core. The black hole was the first one to be directly imaged by the Event Horizon Telescope in 20191. The black hole has a mass of 6.5 billion times that of the sun and is surrounded by a bright ring of hot gas2. The black hole also produces a powerful jet of plasma that extends for thousands of light-years from the galaxy’s center3. The jet is one of the brightest sources of radio waves in the sky and can be seen in different wavelengths4.

M87 is the largest and most massive galaxy in the Virgo Cluster, which is a group of thousands of galaxies that are gravitationally bound together5. M87 has about 15,000 globular clusters, which are spherical collections of old stars that orbit the galaxy. M87 is an active galaxy, meaning that it has a high level of activity and energy output in its core, which is fueled by the black hole. Some theories suggest that the black hole may have grown so large by merging with other black holes or by swallowing nearby stars and gas. M87 is a fascinating object for astronomers and a popular target for amateur and professional telescopes.

Synaptic pruning is the process of eliminating extra synapses in the brain that are not needed or used. Synapses are the structures that allow neurons to communicate with each other. Synaptic pruning is important for brain development, learning, and adaptation12

There are many theories about why and how synaptic pruning occurs. Here are some of them:

One theory is that synaptic pruning is influenced by environmental factors and experiences. Synapses that are frequently used and have strong connections are more likely to be preserved, while those that are less active or weak are more likely to be pruned away. This theory follows the “use it or lose it” principle3

Another theory is that synaptic pruning is a way of optimizing brain function and efficiency. By removing unnecessary or redundant synapses, the brain can reduce the metabolic cost and noise associated with neural activity. This theory suggests that synaptic pruning is a trade-off between complexity and performance4

A third theory is that synaptic pruning is related to the onset of certain disorders, such as schizophrenia and autism. Some researchers have proposed that abnormal synaptic pruning may lead to either excessive or insufficient elimination of synapses, resulting in impaired brain function and cognition. This theory implies that synaptic pruning is a delicate and critical process that needs to be regulated carefully24

This reminds me of this. I let the AI speak for it:

    Quote

It's true that the human brain undergoes a significant period of pruning during early childhood, which involves the elimination of unused synapses and neurons. This process, known as synaptic pruning, is thought to play a crucial role in optimizing brain function and efficiency.

The idea that irrelevant information triggers neuron deletion isn't entirely accurate. Pruning is more likely driven by a combination of factors, including:

Activity-dependent selection: Synapses that are frequently used are strengthened, while those that remain inactive are weakened and eventually eliminated. This ensures that the brain prioritizes connections that are essential for processing the information relevant to a child's environment.

Competition for resources: The brain has limited resources available for maintaining neural connections. Pruning helps to allocate these resources effectively by eliminating unproductive connections and focusing on those that are most important for learning and development.

Critical periods: Different brain regions go through pruning at different times during development. This allows for the optimization of specific functions as they become more relevant to the child's experience.

Understanding synaptic pruning is an ongoing area of research, and the exact mechanisms involved are still being explored. However, it's important to remember that this process is a natural and vital part of brain development, helping to shape the efficient and specialized neural networks that underpin our cognitive abilities.

If you're interested in learning more about this topic, I can provide you with some additional resources from reputable scientific sources. Just let me know!

@Leo Gura would you ever publish an episode understanding the nazi mind ?

From the popularity of this thread you can see that we want it. It would be a great epistemological episode.

Members of this forum, if you want an episode understanding the nazi mind, make it visible by saying under this comment that you want an episode understanding the nazi mind so that leo can see it.

It is the most basic thing in the world. A tribe who goes on the war path.

  8. It is funny how people act like Adolf Hitler can not be understood.

If you want understand the nazis a bit more, maybe look also at how joyful and energetic they were and that they loved Hitler as the leader of germany. This was not staged.

There was no hard punishment for people who failed or did not want to follow orders even under the generals. Only at the end of the war this all changed. So most Nazis were Nazis out of free will.

  9. I played basketball quite a lot. Mainly streetball. I would say it is easily one of the most fun games in the world.

Like with most thinks I try to use evolution to explain stuff.

Baketball is the closest you can get to fighting another person without 'touching' that person. We are programmed to fight or train to fight. Other sports are either too much of fighting and hurting or not enough.

Another point of it is that is one of the most creative sports around. It gives more freedom than other sports. I compare it too dancing. Dancing is an activity which probably involves the most freedom. Basketball feels like dancing.

Of course the war like situation comes without saying.

There is an eugenics element in Basketball on the top level.

    ----

In this context I like Badminton for some of the mentioned reasons.

The empires arises, it doesn't happen because someone says: let's do an empire. Nazism was something like saying: we don't like that the English are the empire, and that their friends the Americans start pushing, we want to be us! And furthermore, we are going to take away the Russian subhumans' lands. It was not a good idea, all at once, without waiting to win a war to start another, thinking that the Aryans were invincible, when 20 years before they were crushed. Seem that they have a psychotic outbreak, and the Japanese another even more horrible outbreak, Gods chosen people torturing everyone in a sadistic way. a very strange mental illness, I don't know if this has happened more times in history, I guess so

Nothing too much out of the order if you would ask Chengiz Khan or Julius Cäsar.

Mussolini was a complete idiot, mentally retarded with the maturity of a 12-year-old child, but not a Nazi I think. The very mentally deficient imbecile intended to make Italy, a country without military tradition, without real union as a nation, a Mediterranean empire like the Turkish,  confronting the british empire, because the ancient Rome was an empire. It's like if now the Mongols decide to try to be an empire because of Jenjis Kahn. He was a crazy clown, a joke.

About the Nazism, actually all conquering peoples have been racist, the English were without a doubt. but they considered the other races human. inferior but human, not animals. They could not be treated like cattle, Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism prohibit it. but not fascism. Even the Romans, that they had no problem establishing maximum punishments, they were not complete racists, they made deals with other empires, they admitted foreign soldiers, etc. The madness of the Japanese and the Nazis was another level

Well he roman empire started small same as the mongol empire. Many non europeans might even like the idea. Think about Napoleon.or even Hitler. There is a case for a strong leader. Specially when you look at Putin and China how Europe is treated like a small child where the big brother USA has to help him in order not to get beaten up. Actually USA is kind of the new Rom.

So no wonder western men think about the Roman Empire so much. In the middle east it is the Ottoman Empire.

Fasciscm is basically 'back to the empire'. For modern ears sounds stupid but the question is are we developed enough to get over it?

Nazism is basically the German version of fascism. German to some parts are idealists so they go to extremes some times. Many of the eugenic theories come from the Anglos anyway.

Fascism is the biggest shit of humanity. It is the ideology that affirms that there are superior humans and subhumans who can be treated like animals. Any fascist deserves to die, they are son of a bitch who spreads evil, demons.

Germany is deeply ashamed of having been fascist, it is a terrible shame, like having been a pedophile rapist torturer of children.

It is very sad what Germany did, horrible. the same as Japan. They behaved like psychopathic demons, and the allies were very generous with them, even the Russians were generous in their savagery, since the aggression they received would deserve exterminating revenge, and that was not the case.

Depends how you define fascism for example:

    Quote

Italian fascism has emulated ancient Rome and Mussolini in particular emulated ancient Roman leaders, such as Julius Caesar as a model for the fascists' rise to power and Augustus as a model for empire-building.

How it sounds like most dogs and ants are more enlightened than all these gurus.

I guess if somebody pays good money I could say I am enlightened and be his Fraudguru or Sadguru or Happyguru.

  15. Marx vs Proudhorn (Marx used to diss him in real life)

    From Bing AI

    Marx:
Yo, yo, yo, listen up, Proudhon
You're about to get schooled by Marx, son
You think you're an anarchist, but you're a fraud
You're just a bourgeois who wants to play God
    You talk about abolishing property
But you still worship the market and money
You dream of a mutualist society
But you forget the workers and the enemy
You ignore the class war and the state
And the need for a revolution, mate

    Proudhon:
Marx, Marx, Marx, you're such a joke
You're the king of inconsistency, bloke
You pretend to be a scientific socialist
But you're really a utopian fantasist
You talk about creating a workers' state
But you end up with a party that dictates
You dream of a communist paradise
But you impose a centralized device
You ignore the human nature and the liberty
And the need for a spontaneous harmony

    Marx:
Proudhon, Proudhon, Proudhon, you're such a bore
You're the prince of irrelevance, snore
You claim to be a critic of German idealism
But you're really a victim of its mysticism
You talk about rejecting metaphysics and theology
But you still embrace empiricism and ideology
You dream of a dialectical synthesis
But you end up with a static analysis
You ignore the historical materialism and the reality
And the need for a radical critique
