You don't have to have seafood everyday, but at least having some kind of seafood once a week is absolutely healthy as long as you get it from a restaurant or grocery store that you know is legit.

@Hardkill Heavy metals

If you want optimum health don't look at sources like WebMD. They merely regurgitate mainstream dogma. There's little scientific about it.

There is no safe level of heavy metals. They are toxic in any amount and it all adds up.

You've never heard it because where would you hear it? And who would even know?

Millions of people die every year from cancer, or suffer from depression, anxiety, dozens of auto-immune diseases, brain fog, ADD, autism, insomnia, chronic fatigue, and hundreds of other conditions. They themselves don't understand that many of these are caused by heavy metal toxicity. And even if they do find out, you certainly won't hear them advertising it to you on YT. Most of the things you know are what sells, not healthy solutions.

There are tons of studies and research that has been done on the affects of heavy metals on cognitive performance and many health conditions. Google and ye shall find.

Leaded gasoline was banned in the 1970's because the lead in the gasoline caused serious cognitive decline and diseases within children turn them into criminals as adult.

Lead in your brain literally increases your likelihood of being a criminal by like 5-10x.

There are millions of criminals in the US right now who only became criminals because their brains are toxified with heavy metals and they don't even have a clue.

Yeah, but heavy metal toxicity can't just be the sole factor that causes most criminals to commit crimes. Genetics, the way they were raised by their parents, trauma they may have incurred, addictions to certain vices, the socioeconomic background of the neighborhood they grew up, etc. are all factors that can cause one to be a criminal.

I never said it was. It is A factor. The human body is incredibly complex and there is never one single factor for anything. There are hundreds of factors.

I don't eat a lot of fish for this reason. Sticking mostly to wild salmon eggs.

Young fish have less heavy metals than mature fish. And fish eggs even have less heavy metals than young fish. It is the best option imo. It is small in volume but it has a lot of nutrition and it tastes great. I'm glad not a lot of people know about this delicacy. It is dirt cheap considering the nutritional value.

The majority of your questions concerning Mercury are answered in this old, long, boring, brilliant video :)

Fish eggs are part of a mature fish!

Nobody makes an alarm, as caviar is perceived as a luxury product, so the assumption is that you will eat only small quantities and you will be fine.

The problem starts to arise when you are a heavy user of caviar or eat caviar from fish living in contaminated waters. Generally, fish eggs do not contain a lot of heavy metal excluding... mercury.

Example from relatively clean waters:

Caviar (fish roe of sturgeon) may contain high levels of contaminants. An inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometer and a direct mercury analyzer were used to assess the contents of four heavy metals (Hg, Se, Sn, and Ba) in caviar of wild Persian sturgeon sea foods. The levels of Hg ranged from 1.39 to 1.50 μg g(-1), Se from 0.90 to 1.10 μg g(-1), Sn from 0.23 to 0.33, and Ba from 0.71 to 1.17 µg g(-1). Evaluation of these levels showed that except for Hg, the average concentrations of other metals are significantly lower than adverse level for the human consumption when compared with the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations and World Health Organization permissible limits. Therefore, their contribution to the total body burden of these heavy metals can be considered as negligibly small given that caviar is a luxury product.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23504250/

Based on this data if you eat 1kg caviar from those waters you will get 1500µg of Hg, where 1,6µg of Hg per kg of body mass is a limit in the European Union.

Fish are living mercury treatment plants with millions of times more mercury concentration than the water they float in.

@Maciej Borowka true. One doesn't have to consume a lot because it is so dense and packed.

I only consume fish eggs every 3 days: 1 small spoon full.

I'm not sure how it works but they say eggs have less heavy metals than the actual fish. And on top of that you only need a small volume of eggs to get the same nutritional value of actual fish.
