Well, Western yoga is a social contagion, so at some point it has to wane.

There was a yoga studio in my town that closed about a year ago. It was next to a McDonalds that I would frequent for a breakfast sandwich and when they had class at 9 am I never saw more than 2-3 people enter. I wondered than how they could stay in business.

Western yoga is overrated. So if it's declining, that would be a justified correction.

I love yoga.  The health benefits are enormous.  Pilates has become a new fad which is in direct competion.  Fortunetly, where I live the yoga studies are still going strong.

Time to introduce Kryia yoga studios to western society so that normies can experience a taste of mysticism.
how about that for a business idea.

Kriya yoga is already available through the Self Realization Fellowship (SRF).  You don’t need a studio to do it in. You get the instructions and do it in your home.

There is also something called Kundalini Yoga which is in a studio and combines physical movement with mantras and pranayama.

I find it interesting when someone talks about “oneness” in a spiritual context, but then makes a dualistic distinction between the physical and mental, when there actually is no such division.  They are intertwined.   The “Hatha Yoga Pradipika” outlines that mastering the densest part of yourself (the body) gives you the tools, stillness, and energy required to master the subtlest part of yourself (the mind and spirit).
