It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

No, it's way more profound than that.

No it's not. I'm asking for a specific argument about why you think digital could be conscious. What is it about digital that makes you think it could be conscious? "Ultimately there is no ontological difference between digitial and non-digital" is not an argument for digital consciousness. It's an argument for everything else that is not digital just as much.

By the way I'm a psychic because I predicted with high certainty you would say exactly that and nothing else. And that's why I'm pissed because I know you too well and it's highly annoying.

Look at the silliness of your own question.

Stahp, rare unchecked typo in the wild.

You predicted me saying something intelligent? And now you think you're a psychic? Haha xD

I didn't think it was intelligent so I was annoyed when I was right.

The two volume knobs both turned to 11 are just too much.

Humans and computers are both made out of the same atoms. What one atom can do, another atom can do.

Don't you think there's something unique about our DNA that give us certain abilities that they won't be able to replicate with regards to AI ?

Like our ability to receive downloads or divine inspiration if you like.

I know you say certain people have the DNA for awakening for example.

Uniqueness is not limited to DNA. Uniqueness is Infinite.

So you think one day there'll be an enlightened AI robot ?

Enlightened, psychic, manifesting, telekinetic AI robots. Such as built the pyramids. You learned it here first.

Carl's conjecture: AI is conscious when it can telekinetically move rocks in the air and read your mind.

I have no bias against it.

Just like you were told your ancestors were monkeys :) how to really know if that is true.

This is unironically good. Because it could give an indication that they would have experienced your mind (given the right conditions and controlling of confounds).

You set up an experiment such that the only way it could pass, is if it had consciousness.

@LastThursday Here is your scientific experiment: put an AI in a magnetically shielded sound proof room at Monroe Institute and make it remote view and read people's minds from the outside.

(I know you were talking about something else and that we can't know for sure that it is not "p-zombieing" its way to that non-physical information, but still).

Or that's actually an interesting philosophical question: could you actually pick up information psychically and create a conclusion on it without experiencing it? @Natasha Tori Maru My brain is now definitely melting.

@Leo Gura I think Anthropic is doing this for hype and trying to increase their stock price. They never truly solved the fundamental problem of AI, they just want you to believe some magic thing happened to make you believe them. I will assert this: Unless the syntax to semantics gap can actually be solved (Exact mechanism of how to deduce semantics and subjective meaning from syntax alone), I refuse to believe that AI is conscious. Deep under the hood, it is just a set of numbers in a vector space thousands of dimensions with mapping (uses a graph data structure [advanced neural networks]). Did you cover the syntax to semantics gap in your deconstructing rationality series?

What the fuck, I did not watch this video beforehand. WTF. @Natasha Tori Maru Did I just remote view that video "unconsciously"? (?) (?) I guess I answered my own question (?) (?)

@Uddi I am not claiming that chat-bots are conscious.

I don't think in terms of syntax and semantics.

Tom claims it's happening, but I don't see how it's possible for AI to do remote viewing though lol

@Leo Gura Sure on the absolute level you can say that everything is just consciousness and that is true but at the relative level, it is simpler to assume that digital consciousness is impossible UNLESS the syntax to semantics gap is fully solved.

Something tells me good old 80-year-old Tom might be a bit too loose with his experiment there. Get us some proper testing paradigms and a large number of trials and statistical significance.
