Do you identify more with your skin or your skeleton?

13 posts in this topic

On one hand, your skin gives you feeling and appearance.

On the other hand, your skeleton gives you structure and form.

So if you had to choose one which would it be?

Have you ever thought of these two things as different?

Happy spooktober everyone

I don’t feel centered in my skin or bones.

I guess my skin. I don't really see my bones. It's just an abstraction in my mind.

I identify with the microbes that live in and on me.

On a conceptual level and/or actually feeling it on a sensory level?

Everything equally, without distinction.  So no, I do not and have not thought of them as separate.

My default is that I feel and have a clear sense of what is going on with all my organs all the time, as well as the other physical and various non-physical aspects...

The limiting factor is whatever "lens" I put on it. Generally speaking, it is best if you know what "lens" does what, so you can do it on purpose with an intended result rather than letting your framing go willy-nilly.

I identify with pure consciousness. Everything else will go away.

For some reason this made me laugh - I had a vision of you yelling at your skin / skeleton / form "I identify with consciousness, just fuck off body!"

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

Right, but your bones give you structure to stand up and walk around; it's the scaffolding, and the skin is just the facade.

The skin is what I interact with daily. I feel and touch with it all the time. My bones aren't really direct experience. It might be skin all the way down for I know, just different levels of hardness. It doesn't matter to me.
