Is it stealing if I go into a grocery store, cut a hole in a Coke bottle, and suck it out with a straw?

Never mind that. Turns out copying and pasting text is considered plagiarism which is a form of stealing, even if it's heavily edited.

I forgot that Adobe charges you to cancel your subscription too. One of the worst companies IMO.

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

History repeating itself with IBM PC copying in the early 1980's. Before there was no standard in the PC industry, hundreds of different architectures, totally incompatible with each other. It was difficult to copy an architecture because the chips were proprietary. The IBM used standard of the shelf parts. The only things that could not be copied was the BIOS because that fell under copyright laws. Many manufactures were sued and bankrupter because they copied the IBM BIOS code. I believe it was Compaq who successfully reverse engineered the BIOS without copying the data. Copy the functionality not the data. That lay the ground work for the growth of PC-compatibles and the foundation of widespread MS-DOS, which later turned into Windows.
Without Compaq there would haven been no platform for the PC (Personal Computer) revolution to take place.

Warning Nerdy stuff, haha

Maybe opening up these industries is not a bad thing and will lead to complete new platforms of software development.

It's not as black and white as stealing/copying/spying whatever you want to call it.

@Joshe Louis is a pitbull when it comes to this matter, which has it's benefits, but he doesn't know when to back down. Not for his own sake, but for the cause he's fighting for. I think he is a good asset to have, but if he's not careful his approach can backfire.

Like stage Green sometimes can do.

I tried several VPNs, but still couldn't access it.

Here's an alternative:

Sometimes you can directly paste the link into an online proxy, and choose the country you are from, and the target country you want to unlock it from. Granted, i dont know how it would work for videos, but i use this alot to unlock città metropolitana di Bologna so i can read articles that are limited to Italy's traffic.

They might have like a specific video proxy site perhaps. Anyway, just thought it would be worth mentioning. Yous might even know more than me, on that front, cause i dont use vpn's. I use proxys, so i dont really know how the whole video/vpn scene works.

It's vibe coded in less than a day.

A pro would probably fix it in a week into production grade.

No, because editing vibe code on this scale is a massive pain in the ass. There's a reason the creator of this specifically said they were not going to maintain it at all.

Building entirely vibe coded production software on this scale is analogous to asking a team of 20 year old entry level construction workers to build a house for you. They're cheap, they work hard, you'll probably have something that looks like a house at the end, but you're constantly going to be finding weird little things that are broken, unreliable, rough around the edges, dangerous or otherwise sketchy.

Eventually you'll start to wonder how much of the important parts you can't see, like the foundation, had a similar lack of quality control. And when you get in an experienced professional to do an extension in the future they'll probably quote you double to deal with the mess, and tell you to rip out half the electrics to stop your house from burning down. If you bring in the team of 20 year old construction workers again to get it done, they'll accidentally knock down half your house.

To be clear, I'm on the side of the open source AI project here. I want it to be a full clone. But there are legitimate challenges with that in a piece of software as complex as photoshop. It's certainly far from professional grade right now, but good enough for entry level stuff.

I don't know.

But it seems a lot better (pure disk and ram usage) and faster (it boots up faster than original) and feature-richer than most earlier versions of Photoshop, all that was developed in an insanely short time.

Haven't you heard about BunJS rewrite from Zig to Rust? It took one dev like 11 work days. He did it using AI, specifically Anthropic's Claude Fable 5. I don't imagine Photoshop would be much harder for a pro to patch it up.

There are several differences here. Firstly, 1 million lines of code is a large codebase, but not insane. Photoshop alone was estimated to have well over 10 million lines in 2013. I'm sure it's closer to 25 million or more now.

Secondly, Bun have the benefit of having the original codebase as a guide, and used several techniques to maintain that structure as they ported it. They also reviewed it as the AI agent was working to make sure it was maintaining that structure. A clone of photoshop built from scratch through vibe coding doesn't have that same benefit, so it's much more likely to be a mess.

It's not a symmetrical situation, because the biggest chunk of code is already written. And the UI is perfect. So it's mostly just backend patches. Thorough testing and reporting is probably the bottleneck. The rest should be a walk in the park if someone picks up the project.

It's also worth noting that the Bun rewrite costed about $165,000 in API token fees. So it's an insane amount of money.

I don't know.
