Do you take your shoes off in your house?

The whole house versus the outside world is actually a metaphor for the mind, when you enter your own mind you shouldn't take dirt from the outside into your temple. Dirt "attaches" onto your shoes. And the dirt in the house becomes so acquainted that people identify with the dirt and think it is normal.

Precisely it’s your feet that stink or are sweaty while your shoe is clean unless you’ve walked in water or sand.

And in general to go more "spiritual" it is the outdoors that is regularly cleansed by rain, wind, and the local flora and fauna. And it is inside your home that dust, hair, and dirt in general accumulate.

External filth is overestimated, the filth emitted from within is underestimated.

@Schizophonia if you live in any city I can assure you there is piss and poop on your shoes. Perhaps Japan is an exception where it is very clean and people don't pee on the streets but even they take off their shoes in their house.

I live in Toulouse a big city most of the time and I've never had anything get on my shoes.

At most there might be invisible to the naked eye traces but so who cares. At that point it’s no longer about hygiene it’s a neurotic delirium.

That’s irrelevant. Your foot is meant to articulate. The surface doesn’t matter. The whole argument is irrelevant.

But if I am to entertain you yes you did evolve to walk on hard shit and soft shit alike with the same ease and grace.

If you’ve evolved for anything it’s being adaptable to a variety of environments.

So the surface we walk on has no impact on gait, the foot or mechanics? It won't effect the body over time? Doesn't sound right.

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

If I were to choose between licking the bathroom floor vs the asphalt in my remote suburban area with 2500mm yearly rainfall, it wouldn't surprise me if I chose the latter.

Besides, your bathroom gets cleaned like maximum once a week with your microscopic shit stains sprayed everywhere from flushing vs your shoes get "cleaned" if you walk on damp grass or even just sufficiently wet ground (which for me is more often than not 2-3 times a day), give or take the odd dog poo / poo stain in the middle of the path landing directly underneath one of your shoes (which is what, 1/100?, 1/1000?; of course that number becomes larger if other people also step on the poo stain area and spread it along the path with their next steps, but how far can such shoes carry the stain before proceding stains get titrated to near zero? Poo physics).
