Aging parents

My dad is 76 years old. This is sometimes really hard for me to accept. Does anyone else have aging parents where you are aware most of their years are behind them and they don't have so much time left?

Yes. This is on my mind constantly. My dad is in his seventies too.

It has been a big thing for me recently.

My siblings seem to be oblivious - but I think this is because I am more engaged in a caring role already.

I am lucky that my parents were young when they had me.

I am only 40 but I still see this as half way through - if I am lucky.

Time really flies. It’s sometimes really quite astounding to fathom. I’m 35 now, seems like yesterday I was 22 and just thinking my dad was this ever present person. My dad is in good health but 76… at that age most of your years are behind you.

Same here, my dad turned 71 this year.

He is in good shape relative to his age despite having had a minor cardiac event before he turned 70.

Good to be present to the fleeting nature of life and health so we give it the proper value. And even then, it's hard to not take some things for granted. Kinda like a medidation practice where we need to always be catching our mind wandering and bringing it back to mindfulness.
