Status is another word for fame and respect. Achieving those in a field that matters to you is important.

Running away from that fact is a bit silly. Status-seeking when it becomes a replacement for healthy self-esteem and pushes you down paths that lack integrity is when it becomes a problem.

Most people don't bring much value to others so they aren't rewarded with status. If you help people solve the problems that stop their life from being great they tend to praise you and tell others about how you've helped them. This is the foundation of status.

Fame, status, prestige, and conventional “success” are largely external qualifiers.

Their existence depends on recognition, comparison, or judgment outside yourself; when they become the goal rather than a by-product, you’re effectively outsourcing your sense of worth to an unstable scoreboard, which can produce insecurity, validation-seeking, comparison, anxiety about losing position, and a moving goalpost where achievement never quite settles the underlying question of “am I enough?”

Internal qualifiers like competence, integrity, courage, mastery, curiosity, or living according to your values can be pursued and evaluated largely from within, so ironically they tend to provide a more stable foundation from which external success may emerge anyway.

Nobody has to run away from anything for status seeking to get out of control.

And even if all this is true, I am being reminded about what Leo Gura say in the video The Value of Truth. That if you dont be carefull you can end up in a position that your Truth Seeking get compromised. Status for me is less about how people see me and more the freedom to pursuit of Truth unapologetic from anyone
