Ego Death Is Not the End of the Self

7 posts in this topic

The dream is the self. The very fact that you are experiencing anything means there is a perspective, and for there to be a perspective, there must be a self. The idea of complete ego death is misunderstood. What people call ego death is not the total disappearance of the self; it is a shift in the way the self is experienced. The ego may become quieter, less attached, or feel dissolved, but the awareness experiencing that state is still present.

Even when someone says, “there is no self,” there is still something that is aware of that experience. The self may transform, expand, or feel separated from the biological identity, but the existence of experience itself points to some form of selfhood. This is why some people who report near-death experiences describe feeling that their true self was revealed beyond the limitations of the physical body.

The Ego Can Fade. But the Absolute Self Remains.

The Absolute self is beyond the ego’s limited identification. It is timeless and independent of any external relation, unlike the ego which is bound to experience.

When the secret is revealed to you, you will know that you are not other than God, but that you yourself are the object of your quest.

The ego is the absolute appearing as an ego. In meditation you can collapse the selfs structure, it doesn't mean that there isn't a self but that self can exist a while without structure, then the nature of this self is revealed. Then the self sees itself as happening and it's substance as being. So self and no self, a stone for example, are the same substance, even the stone doesn't know that it is and the self does

@Breakingthewall Its like a blank mind with voices in it. It pays attention to a single talking voice and makes a reality out of it. It can see its not the reality, not the body, not the talking voice and then it can see the the talking voice is just doing it by itself, like a speaker playing a song. The speaker can stay on and you can sit back and see.

Doing that mental frame you are creating a separation between you, the observer, and the voice that talks, and there isn't, it's the reality in the form of a thought and you are that. It's irrelevant where that voice comes from, comes from the unlimited line of causality of the reality, same than anything else.

It doesn't come from the void, comes from the big bang, and the big bang comes from another cause. If we assume that absolute limits are impossible, a beginning is impossible
